Physicals for Athletics
Dear Parents,
We are pleased to offer free physical exams for boys participating in athletics this year. If your child is involved in any sports, please ensure they receive this important check-up to meet eligibility requirements.
The physicals will be available on August 14,2024 at Durham Middle School during school hours. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and for supporting your child's participation in athletics.

Important!!! Change to Boys Athletic meet times: to beat the heat.
- All Boys Athletics will begin August 5th-8th. 7:00-8:00 am. Boys will need to report to the Big Gym through the Gym Entrance.
- 8th grade Boys August 9th- 7:00-8:00 am.
- 7th grade Boys August 12th- 7:00-8:00 am.
6th graders enrolled in Pre-Athletics will not need to have any paperwork on file to participate in class. Pre-Athletes will need to have an athletic uniform and appropriate athletic shoes to dress out daily. Information for the 6th grade pre- athletic uniform is coming. Students will not be required to dress out for the first few weeks of school. Communication will be made from the coaches.

Password change - required for all middle school students.
All middle and high school students who have not changed their password since July 1, 2024 will have their District generate password go into effect on August 18 at 11:59pm. In order to choose their own password students will need to change it before this date.
We will be working to change passwords for all 6th-8th grade students starting on Thursday, August 15th.

Durham Middle School Athletic Information- Important!!
Any student in the 7th or 8th grade that is enrolled in Athletics will need to have ALL paperwork completed prior to participation. Football and Volleyball tryouts will take place the first few days of school. If your paperwork is not complete, you will NOT be able to tryout and could be removed from the Athletic class.

RankOne Forms- Please make sure to fill out ALL online forms.
Physical- This is to be completed by a doctor. You may go to a family doctor, any Minute Clinic, Urgent Care, CareNow,… will complete the physical for you.

Below are a few announcements with some upcoming things to put on your calendar.
- August Volleyball Training (girls only)- We have been given permission to have Volleyball Skills Training! Please mark your calendar for August 5- August 9 from 4:30pm- 5:30pm. Each day we will be having an hour of volleyball skills with our coaches to prepare you for tryouts the following week. This is free. Please come dressed ready to work out. All you will need is a bottle of water and knee pads (optional). Please enter through the back door by the gym. Door 13 will open at 4:20pm. Please note that you will need to have your physical turned in prior to participating in this skill session. You may turn in your physical upon arrival. Athletes will need to be picked up at 5:30pm.
- Athletic Attire (girls only)- As discussed, athletes will have a specific grey shirt that you will need to have for the school year. If you did not purchase yours before the end of the 23-24 school year, you will be able to purchase yours for $10 or rent for $5 at your grade level orientation or the first day of school. Cash only.

Anyone who is enrolled in PE will not need to have any paperwork on file to participate in class. Students will be required to dress out. Students will need a grey shirt (school appropriate), black shorts (school appropriate/ no spandex) and athletic shoes. Students will not be required to dress out for the first few weeks of school. Communication will be made from the coaches.
Coaches will be at orientation to answer any questions you may have.
A note from the Nurse!!!
2024-2025
7th graders are required to have the following vaccines by the State of Texas:
- Tdap Booster -One dose, if it has been 5 years since the last dose of a tetanus containing vaccine.
- Meningococcal Conjugate-One dose. (Menactra, MCV4, Menveo)
If your child has already received these, make sure the school has an updated vaccination record.
The proof of vaccination is required before your child will be able to attend class, August 13, 2024.
