Practicing your Presence: East Coast Meditation
Presented by Guest SpeakerTeddy Costa
East Coast Meditation is all about the practice of being present in our own individual lives. The various forms and understanding of meditation are derived from Yoga, Buddhism, Kabbalah, and other spiritual traditions. The idea of utilizing an assortment of practices is to best find what is right for you, the individual practitioner, in working within the present moment. Some practices will resonate with one individual, such as a mindfulness exercise, while other persons may resonate with physical and/or emotional insight practices. You find what best serves you, and leave the rest for another day, if ever.
It is a great privilege, honor, and joy to be in the position of sharing these methods for being present for the purpose of living meaningful, integrated lives - all while being the hard working, peace loving individuals that we all have the power to be in this lifetime.
Bio: Ted Costa has been involved with mind-body-spirit integration work since 2017. He's a Nondual Healer by way of training in a 500 hour nondual Kabbalistic healing school, and a meditation teacher by way of training in a 200 hour yoga teacher training program. Ted is still involved with ongoing healer education and yogic studies, and now teaches dozens of individuals throughout the week in personal meditation classes and other outlets. Where he practices his own personal presence can be found within his family with his wife, dog, and baby boy on the way, his co-owned coffee company "Keep It Real Coffee Company," and also within his personal meditation circles. You can find him online at East Coast Meditation.com and on instagram with the same name.
PLEASE NOTE: This service will be in person at UUCSJS and streamed live on our Facebook page. A recording will be available later in the day on our YouTube Channel.
*Masks are currently optional at UUCSJS.

30 Days of Yoga
From Adrienne: Some days will be easier than others. Some will feel hard. All are designed to help you feel really really good. The most valuable part of a centering practice is the courageous act of showing up.
This series may look like a lot of core strengthening exercises, moves for a healthy spine, good lymphatic flow, releasing tension and decreasing chronic pain. But, it is truly about learning and knowing who you are.
And perhaps you will never know the power of this 30 days of centering unless

Notes From the Board
We wanted to give the congregation an update on Boy Scout Troop 77B.
Wendy Stewart who is the troop committee chair for Boy Scout Troop 78 advised us that the troop would be signing a charter with another church in town. She said originally, they reached out to two churches in town when it became clear that the Emmaus UMC would not renew their charter for the coming year. She said neither church responded. After they both didn’t respond to a follow up email, the troop committee became worried and issued an “all points bulletin” to see if they could find a sponsor. Wendy said that’s when we stepped up and expressed interest. She then said that both churches also responded that they would be willing to sponsor the troop. Wendy said they went with the church that has the charter for their pack troop which is the feeder for the boy scout troop. Now the pack and boy scout troop will be sponsored by the same church. She thanked us for stepping up and said there was nothing we did that made them go with the other church. She said once that church finally said yes it became apparent that was the best option for them.
Naturally, we are very disappointed that this did not work out. This could have been a great opportunity for both of our organizations.
We can only be positive in looking to the future. First the school went another route, now the boy scout troop is going another route. We can only hope that the third opportunity will be the charm!

Margaret Circle
Next meeting - Thursday, Jan 12, 1:00 pm
Margaret circle is going to have an interesting time at their monthly meeting. Each member is being asked to think of a song that has significance in their lives. They will tell Katy Cardwell of their choice before Jan 10, and Katy, who is in charge of this program, will provide this music. The person choosing this piece will tell us what the meaning of this song has been in their life and will have a chance a chance to sing it karaoke style if they wish. This should be a fun way to get to know each other in a unique way and enjoy some music!
Margaret Circle is open to all women of the congregation. If you are not a regular, and wish to come, contact Betsy Searight.

This novel follows 18-year-old Emmet Watson who is a surprisingly composed and mature young man.
