Dear Page Families,
Welcome to October and the beautiful fall season! As we embrace the cooler weather and autumn festivities, we look forward to sharing many exciting events and opportunities with our school community this month! Happy National Principals' Month!
1. Weekend Challenge for Page Fun Run Boosterthon Fundraiser - We have a very special challenge for THIS WEEKEND ONLY. It’s called… “The Weekend Challenge”. To complete the “Weekend Challenge,” any student who gets a NEW donation of $2 per laps, which is the same as $60, over the weekend, will receive the GOLDEN EDITION SPECIAL DUDE PERFECT KEYCHAIN! Students, get super excited to rise to the challenge! This is your ONLY chance to earn a BONUS prize in addition to your normal prizes! Remember if we hit our our $5,000 goal, we will Sundae a Teacher or Principal!
2. Hispanic Heritage Celebration Evening Event - October 10th @ 6:30 -Join us for this exciting event filled with culture, music, and food as we honor Hispanic heritage in a fun and educational way!

3. Sip n’ Paint – October 10th, 6:30 – 8 pm in Art Room G102 (See flyer below)
- Items created by students at our Sip n' Paint event can be submitted as an entry to the National Arts Reflections Program.

4. Page Fun Run Event on **Friday, October 11th, at 6:00 PM** on the school field! This event will raise funds for our school while promoting physical activity and community spirit.
Fundraising is already underway! If you haven’t signed up, visit [mybooster.com](https://mybooster.com) today. Our goal is to raise **$5,000** to enhance our school’s resources, and we need your support to make it happen.- How it works:
Students collect pledges from family and friends until **October 11th**. The more pledges, the more prizes they can win! Contributions can be made per lap or as a set amount. Don’t miss the weekend and nightly challenges for extra prizes! 💻 Sign up online OPEN at MyBooster.com

👟 Fun Run Event Day @ 6:00 PM – 10/11/2024
On the day of the Fun Run, students will move for **35 minutes** to a lively soundtrack. All students are encouraged to participate, regardless of funds raised.

Apply for Free and Reduced Meals (FARMS) for 2024 - 2025 School Year - Due by October 8th
FARMS applications must be completed each school year. New for the 2024 - 2025 school year students in Maryland who qualify for reduced-price meals will not be charged for meals. The application for FARMS is online and has been updated for the new school year. Apply using www.MySchoolApps.com; this is the preferred application method. You can also apply online using the QR code.

Reflections Art Program - Accepting Imperfection
- National PTA Arts Program - Students are invited to create theme-based artwork in the categories of dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography or visual arts.

Teachers Lounge Snack Donation
- While our beloved teachers are busy raising the bar for our kiddos, we are going to set a different "BAR" for them daily to say "Thank YOU" for all their hard work. If you would like to drop-off snacks, please leave them in the Front Office and let the staff know that the items are for the Snack Pantry. This is an ongoing effort and will seek support for the remainder of the school year. If you would like to contribute to helping make this happen click on a slot and sign up. This week’s Thursday message includes information on Mental Health Awareness Week, applications opening Oct. 7 for the high school regional/countywide programs, surveys for the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 school year calendars, the latest Hispanic Heritage Month profiles, registration for the Oct. 26 Game Changer Conference and applications due Oct. 4 for the inaugural chapter of the Youth Climate Institute.

Superintendent’s Community Engagement Meeting - Monday, Oct. 21, Paint Branch High School, 7–8 p.m.
The Black and Brown Coalition for Educational Equity and Excellence (BBC) is hosting a Townhall featuring MCPS Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor,
· The Black and Brown Coalition for Educational Equity and Excellence (BBC) is hosting a Townhall featuring MCPS Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor, who will discuss key issues affecting our community and schools. Register here.
o Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 6-8 pm at Wheaton HS 12401 Dalewood Drive, Silver Spring, MD 20906
- Childcare (for up to 80 students, k-2nd grade)
- Catered meal will be provided
- Spanish, Amharic and ASL interpretation will be available
- Shuttle Bus service will be available, from local Elementary Schools
This Townhall will introduce our community to Dr. Taylor and provide an opportunity to hear his plans for:
- Improving reading data for all students, including a focus on Black and Brown students
- Enhancing school safety and security
- Implementing an equity plan that includes resources to support MCPS students
- Strengthening community engagement and support services, including counseling, mentorship programs, and academic assistance for students
