August Newsletter
WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!
We are off to a good start in first grade! A large focus for the month of August will include getting to know each other, forming strong relationships, team building, assessments, and rules and procedures.
Helpful tips to start the year off right!
*Make sure your child is getting plenty of rest.
* Tennis shoes are the best choice for running and playing on the playground. We go outside four times a day! Please double knot tennis shoes. If your child does not know how to tie shoes, it's a good time to practice at home!
*Check your child's backpack for their orange folder and return it back to school. You will find student work and important information in these folders.
*Please do not allow your child to bring toys to school unless notified by a teacher.
* If there is a change in dismissal for your child, the office must be notified.
*Attendance is really important! Let's work together to ensure your student is coming to school every day ready to learn!
*Students can bring a snack and water bottle daily! Snacks should be small and be able to be consumed in 5 minutes or less.
Instruction

DATES TO REMEMBER
September 2: No School
September 3: Teacher Development Day- No school for students
At Home
*When your child writes his/her name the first letter should be uppercase (capital) and the other letters should be lowercase. Please help your child practice this correctly at home.
*Reading with your child is always a benefit for learning!
*Practice counting from random numbers instead of starting at 1.
