Students Start Next Tuesday
August 14, 2024
Dear Avon Lake City Schools Families,
Thank you on behalf of everyone in our school district who hopefully withstood the damage and major inconveniences caused by the inclement weather last week. While we temporarily needed to close the buildings and adjust activities, I thank our custodial and building maintenance teams for their hard work and diligence to restore normalcy in our school district. When unforeseen matters emerge, I thank the Avon Lake City Schools community for their patience and support.
Students Start Next Tuesday!
Students have periodically been visiting the school through this week for various orientations, lockers and schedule days, fall activities, and more. We’re certain to be very busy but prepared for the start of school which comes on Tuesday, August 20th next week for students in grades 1st through 12th and pre-kindergarten/kindergarten on Thursday, August 22nd. I hope you have great success in making your final preparations for the start of the 2024-2025 school year!
Afterschool Care at Redwood and Eastview!
As an update to families who enroll their children in our afterschool programs, please make a note that there will be two sites for before and after care, this coming school year, and those will be Redwood Elementary and Eastview Elementary School. Details should be forthcoming to families participating, so please make sure to keep an eye out for this information.
ALHS Football Preview and Community Day!
Come out and support the Avon Lake football family, as AL Municipal Stadium will be home to the ALHS Football Preview & Community Day celebration tomorrow, Thursday, August 15th from 4 - 8 p.m. Senior football players will be signing autographs at 4:15 p.m., a Candy Dash will take place at 4:45 p.m., the JV/Freshman Scrimmage will kick-off at 5:15 p.m. and our Varsity Scrimmage will take place at 7 p.m. This awesome event will feature food trucks, activities, face paintings, games, and more! Come on out for an evening of Shoreman and Shoregals fun and excitement!
Coffee Talks Were a Hit!
District administrators wrapped up our final Coffee Talk on Wednesday, August 14th, and we thank our host locations, those in the community who attended, and those who followed our posts on social media. Look for more of these opportunities to chat with administrators one-on-one in the near future. Getting to know the questions and concerns of individuals personally made a positive impact on our leadership team and we appreciate the collaboration with our community as a whole!
We’re excited to meet our new staff members who will join us for an orientation later this week, and all staff members will participate in our annual convocation gathering on Monday, August 19th. These activities, preparatory measures, events, and more, are all pointing to an exciting, anticipatory, and successful launch to the 2024-2025 school year!
See you all next week!
