Fall is Apple Time in First Grade
If you ask a York CSD alum, they'll likely mention Apple Umpkin Day in first grade as one of their fondest memories.
First-grade teacher Mrs. Sandy Streb started this activity many years ago and with the support of the other teachers, the tradition has continued. The students moved through centers that reinforced the skills they have learned. Apple Umpkin Day holds a lot of learning and fun! Many thanks to the parents and community members who volunteered to help out in the classrooms.
We painted these all by ourselves!
Mrs. Streb showed us the star inside the apple
Thank you for helping us make caramel apples!
We participated in several stations using our art, science, and math skills
Lots of tearing and gluing created bright colored apples and pumpkins
I like picking pumpkins because...

October is School Board of Education Appreciation
October 14 - 18, 2024, is School Board of Education Appreciation Week, a time to show our appreciation for the seven community volunteers who dedicate their time to the education of our students.
Thank you to board members Laura Geary (President), Kara Kane (Vice President), Christine Bianchi, Kirsty Northrop, Marilyn Moore, Daniel Ayers, and Matthew Miller.
Your leadership and dedication to YCS students and staff help supports our vision to prepare, challenge, and inspire all students to reach their potential.
At the October 7 meeting, each board member received a framed photo of the YCS campus, taken by Junior Brody Pangrazio, who captured it early in the morning using his drone.
