What is New in the MLL Department
The Meaning of December
December holds a special significance as we wrap up the half-year, reflecting on the progress made in academic and language development goals. The focus on relationship-building with students has contributed to a positive and comfortable atmosphere within the school community. As routines have become more familiar, students settle in, establishing a stronger connection with their teachers.
December brought exciting opportunities for extracurricular activities, enriching field trips, and creative door-decorating endeavors. Recognizing and rewarding positive behavior through the PBIS initiative has added to the overall positive atmosphere in the school. Moreover, a thoughtful and small celebration for the student population in the MLL department underscores the commitment to fostering a sense of community and inclusivity. These activities contribute to a festive spirit and enhance the overall school experience for students.

Successful Collaboration
As we foster effective communication within our educational community, The MLL grade-level representative is a point of contact for grade-level teachers, facilitating seamless communication between the MLL Department and grade-level educators to ensure that pertinent information about MLL students is delivered effectively.
Each MLL teacher will collect feedback, address concerns, and liaise between grade-level teachers and the MLL Department.
If you have any questions, need assistance, or wish to share information about MLL students in your grade, please don't hesitate to contact them. They will aid you in addressing any questions and bringing relevant matters back to our MLL CPT for further discussion.

ACCESS Testing
Schedule
The ACCESS test is a vital assessment that measures our English learner students' academic English language proficiency. Administered annually, it plays a crucial role in evaluating the progress of our students and provides valuable insights into their language development.
For the school year (2023-2024), the ACCESS for ELLs test will occur from the beginning of January to the end of the month. The first week of January will be dedicated to preparing our students and conducting practice sessions to ensure they are comfortable and confident when undertaking the test.
Based on their grade levels, students are scheduled to take the test between January 8 and January 31. Your support during this period is integral to the success of the testing process.

December Celebrations
In December, we had a fantastic time celebrating the holiday season. Highlights included the staff Christmas party, festive door decorations, and a delightful Christmas breakfast and activity day.
