Mr. Mauck's Musings
The winter weather threw in another curveball. Thank you to our students, families and staff for making our eLearning as productive as possible. A reminder that all assignments are due three days after being assigned and student attendance is determined by completion of the lessons. Congratulations to Josneider Marquez Perez and Mrs. Lana Fierst who were selected as our Student and Staff of the Week. Thank you for making JHS a better place.
Six JHS wrestlers ended there seasons with a strong showing at last Saturday's Semi-State wrestling meet. Nolan Mullins (34-7), Mason Bower (23-19), Gavin Jones (18-15), Caydan Ramos (23-17), Hayden Biggs (24-20), Mason Gegogeine (33-11) all battled hard but were just a little short in their efforts to advance. Thank you to our senior wrestlers and good luck in the future to the underclassmen who advanced all the way to Semi-State. The JHS bowling team finished 6th in the state and Todd Dick finished 16th as an individual this weekend. Indiana High School Bowling named Todd Dick, Eli Clark and Greta Weisheit to the All Region bowling teams today! Todd Dick also received an Honorable Mention for All-State. The All-State tournament will be held March 8th in Kokomo! The Boys Swim Team competed in sectional prelims on Thursday and will swim for a sectional title on Saturday. The Dance Team is headed to the regional competition in Noblesville on Saturday. Our Boys Basketball team is fighting hard and improving at the right time, heading into sectional. They will play Pike Central tonight at home in a regular season matchup. The Freshmen boys team is competing in the SIAC tournament. Good luck to all our teams.
This week was FFA week and the weather required many events to be moved to next week. We did have the truck show/contest and some dress up days, but the petting zoo and tractor show all had to be moved to dates with a warmer forecast. The FFA student leadership, Mrs. Lammers and Mrs. Knust do an outstanding job with this week.
The Jasper Mayors Youth Leadership Council's fundraiser at Culvers was moved from Tuesday this week to March 3rd. Eat a Culvers on the 3rd and proceeds will go to fund a sand volleyball court at a city park. The Cross Country Team is sponsoring the Wildcat Run Away 5K race. They have provided information and an online registration below. The JHS Band is hosting "A Notable Event," which is a dinner and auction. The public is invited to this fundraiser on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center. More information and a registration form have been included.

VUJC will be hosting one of these and they have bi-lingual workers to help on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025 at 2 p.m. (Local Time)

Announcing Jasper Band Parents’ Annual Auction & Dinner Fundraiser - The Notable Event
The Jasper Band Parent Organization is excited to share details of their biggest annual fundraising event, the Notable Event Auction & Dinner. The public is invited to this fundraiser on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center in Jasper, IN.
The evening includes dinner, silent and live auctions, and games of chance. The event, for those aged 21 and above, promises an extraordinary night of friendship, food, and philanthropy in support of our local students and Jasper Band programs. The goal of the fundraiser is to be able to provide new uniforms, props, transportation, scholarships, and instruments. A portion of the funds is also targeted to contribute to the Jasper Bands’ Dubois County Community Foundation endowment, ensuring that local music education programs continue to thrive in the future.
The Notable Event auctions boast a diverse array of items suitable for all budgets, including sporting event tickets, themed baskets, local merchandise and gift certificates, and unique experiences like wine tastings, meal deliveries, scavenger hunts, golf rounds, spa parties, and more. Attendees can take pride in knowing their contributions, big or small, will directly impact the musical education of local students.
Please join us when the doors open at 5:00 pm with a lively cocktail hour, featuring a cash bar and grazing table. Attendees will have the opportunity to start bidding on silent auction items while mingling with friends and supporters. At 6:30 pm, guests will be treated to dinner followed by a dessert auction, which has become a sweet highlight of the night. The excitement continues with a silent auction concluding at 7:30 pm, followed by the live auction. Games of chance will be played throughout the evening.
Ticket prices for this unforgettable evening are $50 per person, with a business casual dress code recommended. Attendees are encouraged to also participate in the games of chance, which can be purchased upon entry. To guarantee reservations, RSVP by February 17. Tickets may be available at $55 per person after this date.
For those unable to attend in person, donations are gladly accepted. Checks can be mailed to ‘A Notable Event’, P.O. Box 948, Jasper, IN 47547, made out to the Jasper Band Parent Organization.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid site is now open for Students and Parents to complete their applications for next year. Any student considering attending college should complete the FAFSA to be eligible for financial assistance. I would encourage all families to fill out a application regardless of need as many colleges require FAFSA completion for all types of assistance. Many schools require submission for competitive non-need based scholarships or grants. The application is much easier than in the past. Click on the link for more information and to complete your application. FAFSA

BOOK BANTER FROM YOUR LIBRARY
New books are continuing to be put out on the window table! Mrs. Keusch’s children’s literature students have written and designed their own books. These may be viewed on the top of the first reference cabinet. So many awesome books!! As the library transitions holidays, keep an eye out for all the events in March. To keep up with the madness, the drawing for March will be to fill out a book bracket. This will begin March 3. Submissions to the arts magazine, The Paws, will be accepted all during the school year this year.
