Met Students Attend Camp Enterprise!
Camp Enterprise is a three-day camp for high school juniors and seniors designed to introduce students to the free enterprise system and encourage entrepreneurship and ethical business practices. The experience is often life changing. Sponsored by Rotary, this year four Met students spent a recent weekend in Julian to learn business skills and teamwork.
Ezri Mariscal, a junior who participated, shared: “The weekend was robust- we worked in teams to create a product. The purpose was to foster teamwork and to learn more about the business world through different roles… It was a beautiful location in Julian!”
Juniors Get a Jump on College Plans
Mr. Moravec addressed the entire junior class, sharing important deadlines and requirements to navigate next fall's college application process. Additionally, CalSoap is offering a webinar on May 14 for juniors titled "College-Bound Webinar: Financial Aid for 11th graders". Please spread the good word about the Met!
Parents, please take a moment to write a positive review of the Met at one or all of these platforms that parents commonly use when choosing a school:
- Yelp - https://www.yelp.com/biz/san-diego-met-high-school-san-diego
Niche - https://www.niche.com/k12/san-diego-metro-career-and-tech-san-diego-ca/

Many students and parents over the years have told us how their experiences at the Met have inspired them to future success. We hope you'll share your stories with a wider audience so that more families can have a school experience like yours. Thank you so much for supporting our school!
SLCs coming up!
Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) - March 26-28
Save the dates! Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) will be held between March 26-28. As part of the Met's vision of personalized learning and family engagement, we host Student-Led Conferences (SLC) twice a year at the midpoint of each semester. Our Spring 2025 SLCs take place on March 26, 27, and 28, which coincides with the release of student Progress Reports.
SLCs and Progress Reports are a very important opportunity for students to lead a conversation about their goals and growth (both academic and personal), and for parents to assess their students’ success and partner with teachers on support strategies where needed, with ample time for improvement before final grades are issued at the end of the semester. These conversations are a crucial part of how we support student learning and connect with families. As such, every student is expected to have at least one parent, guardian, or other close family member in attendance at their SLC.
Advisors are supporting their students on SLC preparations, and will be reaching out to families to schedule a specific date and time for their SLC. If you will require interpreting services in Spanish, please let your student’s advisor know, and we will arrange for a Spanish-speaking staff member to join your SLC. If you have other language needs, please let your student’s advisor know, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Because of the importance of SLCs, we are having a modified schedule that week to allow more time during the day for families to attend. Please note the following class schedule for those three days:
Wednesday, 3/26 - Classes from 8:30am to 12:30pm. SLCs may be scheduled from 12:30pm onward.
Thursday, 3/27 - Students are expected to continue attending internships. SLCs may be scheduled outside of the student’s internship time.
Friday, 3/28 - Classes from 8:30am to 12:30pm. SLCs may be scheduled from 12:30pm onward.
We look forward to having you join us for your students' SLCs!

CLASS OF 2025
FAFSA/CADAA Priority Deadline Extended to APRIL 2!
It’s time for our senior students and families to apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships for the 2025-2026 school year! The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and California Dream Act Application (CADAA) are now open.
UPDATE!
- The FAFSA/CADAA Priority Deadline was extended to April 2, 2025. Please support your students with completing the FAFSA/CADAA by this deadline!
To learn more about financial aid, CalSOAP is leading a VIRTUAL workshop on Cash for College (1:1 Financial aid workshop for students and families) on Thursday March 20, 2025, 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Here is a link to the flier: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cP_tvF8EPKWvfNM9fjxHJJt7v_1M_yCx/view?usp=sharing
Our Senior Advisors and Mr. Moravec have already assisted students with setting up their FSA ID for the FAFSA application. Parents/Guardians will also need to create their own FSA ID in order to help complete the application for their student. For more information and support, please visit this site and use this application link to access the FAFSA application.
No matter what pathway your student is pursuing, there is financial aid available to help. We strongly encourage all families to apply for financial aid, regardless of income. Completing the FAFSA or CADAA is a requirement for many higher education institutions, especially if your student is seeking merit-based scholarships. Additionally, submitting the FAFSA or CADAA is necessary to be considered for the California Promise Grant at California Community Colleges.
Deadlines for FAFSA or CADAA:
- For 4-Year Universities: The state priority deadline is April 2, 2025.
- For Community Colleges: The deadline is September 2, 2025.
Scholarship Opportunities: Mr. Moravec regularly posts scholarship search links and information for seniors in the Class of 2025 College and Postsecondary Info Google Classroom (Class Code: b44kgvq). Check the top post for the latest links. Don’t miss out on these important opportunities to support your student’s future!
