Last day of 2024-25 School Year- June 13th

The last day of school is Friday, June 13th. This will be a half day for students and a full day for staff. Dismissal time for students in grades 6 - 12 will be 10:45am.

7th Grade Dance

Students need to picked up at SMS from the dance! Students will not be allowed to walk elsewhere after the dance has ended.

SMS Art Exhibition

Join us May 28 between 5:00-7:00 for our 3rd annual SMS Art Show! Every student who took Art Class will have artwork on display. Come celebrate our incredibly talented and creative students.

Red Storm Strikes Out Cancer Walk

The 5th annual Scarborough Middle School Red Storm Strikes out Cancer Walk is on Thursday, May 22nd . The walk will begin directly after school. Parents of students who are participating should expect to pick up their students by 3:15 pm. Practices will be pushed back on this day in order for athletes to be able to take part. We will start at the middle school, walk up to the high school, go around Memorial Park, and return to the middle school.

In order to participate,students are asked to have this permission slip signed and returned to their CREW teacher by May 20th. You are also asked to make a $10 donation

Hannaford Helps Schools Ends June 7

Help SMS be a Top Participating School Again!

There is just one month left of the 2025 Hannaford Helps Schools program! Please make sure to redeem your School Dollars before the program ends on June 7.

This week students learned about the Blueprint Conference which gives people in conflict a safe space to express their emotions and actively listen to each other's perspectives. During this conference, they reflect and share their responses to the Blueprint Reflection with the goal of repairing. For the rest of May, students will continue to build their emotional vocabulary by learning about the words, pessimistic, optimistic, and stressed.

Student Absence Reporting

Families should report their middle school student's absence from school by calling the SMS main office at 207-730-4800 or by email at msoffice@scarboroughschools.org. A reason for the absence must be stated, otherwise SMS office staff will reach out to determine the reason for the absence.

Excusable reasons for an absence:

illness
appointment
religious holiday
family emergency
planned absence

For Planned Absences (a day out of school which is not illness or medical appointment related), families should fill out the Scarborough Middle School Planned Absence for which is found here.
