A Message from Principal Buchko
Dear MacArthur Families,
There are so many exciting things happening between now and the winter break. Below you will see several pictures of our student lockers that they each paid $1 to decorate. The students are so excited and proud of their lockers. There is so much creativity. The money collected goes toward our Angel Tree helping our MacArthur families. Thank you to everyone for your support. A special thanks to our Student Council for organizing this philanthropic activity.
Our Honor Society is sponsoring a Candy Cane sale starting Friday, December 1st and all proceeds will be donated to the Buddy Bag Project. The Buddy Bag Project is a program that helps ensure that no child in Southlake County goes home hungry. It provides meals and snacks for students/families in need. Children who benefit from free breakfast and lunch at school are not always so fortunate on the weekends and the Buddy Bag Project helps fill that void. If you feel inclined to help fight student hunger, please reach out and donate to www.communityhelpnet.org/buddy-bags1/. Thank in advance for your generosity.
Have a great weekend.
Marian Buchko

PTO News
Holiday Shop
We are excited that our annual Holiday Shop will be held again at MacArthur on Monday, December 18th. Classes will come through by grade levels - ONE DAY ONLY this year! This is the perfect time to help students learn about the spirit of giving.
The PTO will accept cash, check, or you may pre-purchase holiday shop credit using a credit card at www.macpto.com/shop to avoid dealing with sending cash with your kids to school. No change will be returned for students purchasing online shop credit, any leftover funds will be donated to Mac PTO.
This event is always a huge hit with our students. We will be sending home envelopes to help families plan who students should shop for. We will make every effort to ensure that students follow the shopping /budget list but cannot make any guarantees, as this is a very fast-paced event and we unfortunately never have enough volunteers. Gifts cost between .50 - $7.00 and there will be something for everyone - mom, dad, sister, brother, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, friends, etc. Gifts will not be wrapped due to time restraints.
Additionally, as part of our initiative to ensure no kiddos are sad this holiday season, if you'd like to donate towards our special fund to ensure ALL STUDENTS are able to shop for their loved ones, please visit www.macpto.com/shop to purchase donation credit. Your generosity is so appreciated and helps make an already exciting event even more magical for the students.
If parents are interested in shopping at the Holiday Shop, we will remain open on Monday the 18th in the gym until 6 pm!
Holiday Shop Volunteers
We need your help to make this year's Holiday Shop magical! We need as many volunteers as possible, as we will be getting the entire school through our shop in just ONE DAY!
If you have time to volunteer on Monday, December 18th, please sign up at the link below.
We are also in need of brown paper grocery store bags. Please drop off in the front office. Thank you!
Mustang Blankets & Croc Charms
We still have Mustang blankets and Croc Charms for sale (IN STOCK) and are currently awaiting a shipment of more Bulldog blankets. Bulldog blankets may not arrive in time for the holidays - we are still unsure. If you'd like to purchase Mustang Blankets or Croc Charms, or PREORDER Bulldog blankets, visit www.macpto.com/shop
Cedar Lake PTO Tree
PTO has sponsored a tree in front of the Franciscan building on 133rd. Students are free to add their own decorations or ornaments. Zip ties or fishing line work best for attached decorations to the tree. Lights and garland have been placed on the tree. Please note: Ornaments and decorations won't be returned.

Parents/Guardians,
With Thanksgiving being last week, I felt it would be a good time to talk about the power of gratitude! Research has proven that gratitude can have several benefits for children and adults alike. To begin with, gratitude can open the door to new relationships. Studies show that thanking a new acquaintance makes them more likely to seek an ongoing friendship. Robert A. Emmons, Ph.D. also conducted a study that confirms that gratitude effectively increases happiness and reduces depression! Finally, research reveals that grateful people sleep better. If you spend just 15 minutes writing down a few things that you are grateful for, you may sleep better and longer at night. I encourage you to have a conversation with your child about being gratitude and model it for them!
