New This Week- Need to Know
- Our Lost and Found in the cafeteria is overflowing! Please encourage your child to check for any missing coats or jackets.
- Testing: MISA (5th) grade - March 12th-15th Students will begin taking the assessment at 11am and will complete it before 12:30pm. They will test Tuesday-Friday.
- 5th Grade Families- See the Counselor's Corner for the middle school orientation fliers from PPMS and WHMS. Once we receive the information from NMS, we will share.

EVERYONE must reapply for being a volunteer. The system was cleaned out and you must reapply. Remember, if you want to be a chaperone or work events, you must be approved. If you are an employee of CCPS, you still need to complete the volunteer process for participation in events at school.

- Arrival window for cars and bus: 9:15AM-9:25AM
- Dismissal window for Daily Car Riders- 3:50PM-4:05PM

Counselor's Corner
From Ms. Hilton and Ms. Shade: March 8, 2024
· Our Character Trait of the Month for March is TEAMWORK! We will continue to teach, emphasize, and reinforce the importance of being a good teammate throughout the month!
· Our classroom counseling lessons this month will align with our character trait of the month, and we will focus on TEAMWORK! During our lessons, we will explore traits of a team and how to be a strong teammate.
· In 5th grade, we distributed MIDDLE SCHOOL REGISTRATION forms! All 5th grade students received a 2024-2025 Educational Planning Guide and yellow middle school registration form. Completed and signed registration forms are due back to your child’s teacher NO LATER than Friday, March 15, 2024. If you have any questions regarding middle school registration, please contact your child’s school counselor. Please see the attached flier.
• Windy Hill Middle School is hosting a 6th grade information night on 5/16. Please see the attached flier.
• Plum Point Middle School is hosting a 6th grade information night on 5/1. Please see the attached flier.
· Save the Date! Student Services will be holding a “Spring into Wellness” event on May 9th from 4:30-6:30 at CHS.

· SES has joined with Friendship Community Baptist Church for our HeartFELT (Filling Empty Little Tummies) program. The HeartFELT program provides qualifying students with meals and snacks each weekend. If you would like more information or would like your child to participate in the HeartFELT program, please contact your student’s school counselor to sign up.
· Should your family need assistance with school supplies (now or during the school year), please contact your child's classroom teacher or counselor.

- Congratulations to the DI teams: The SES Destination Imagination Teams competed last Saturday in the Regional Competition. Here's a summary of how CCPS teams did in the competition and who is moving to the next level! A huge shout out to Ms. Jeffries and Ms. Wolfe for their leadership and the numerous parent volunteers who have showed up before school for many weeks to support the student teams! We appreciate YOU! Special Mention: Highest Instant Challenge score in their challenge area: Might Ducks😀 (SES), The Purple Marshmallows (PPES), Ballistic Beanbags (BAES), and Animal Savers (HES)
- Attendance Celebrations: During the 2nd Qtr, grades 1-5 were first in attendance in the county again! WOOHOO!! We had 94.33% of students in 1-5 attending. Our Kindergarten had the 3rd highest attendance in the system at 92.47%! Thank you for making sure your student arrives on time and attends school consistently. We are getting closer to our Pre-Covid attendance percentages! Way to go, Seahawks!
- The School Store or Caring for Classrooms is the fundraiser we do each year. We choose to participate in this because of how it supports our teachers. Our families are so extremely generous with the gift cards so that teachers can get what they need for their class. I have attached a summary of the activity this year because it is truly amazing! For teacher gift cards to purchase items for the class- $28580.00! Check it out for more details! THANK YOU for supporting our school for all students!
