CMIT SOUTH SPANISH TUTORING
Are you looking to boost your Spanish skills this year? If so, don't miss the opportunity to attend Ms. Tejeda's Spanish tutoring sessions! She offers personalized assistance for both middle and high school students every Thursday after school from 3:00 to 4:15 PM in room 162. This is your chance to gain confidence and improve your understanding of the language. For any questions, feel free to reach out to Ms. Tejeda at ytejeda@cmitsouth.org. WHEN TO STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL/WORK
To CMIT parents/guardians
Please encourage your scholar to bring in their water to school or water bottle for refill. The school nor the nurse's office do not provide bottle water or cups to student.
If you know your child is experiencing any of the flu- like symptoms please monitor him/her before sending to school. COVID is still around
ATHLETICS NEWS
Week Recap
This week kicked off with our Girls Varsity Basketball team in action for Senior Night against Crossland HS. They secured a dominant 53-28 victory and capped off the night with a fantastic celebration!
CMIT South Track & Field Shines at State Championships!
Our Indoor Track & Field team wrapped up an incredible season with standout performances at the State Championship!
Two of our talented young ladies competed in the 55m dash and 300m dash.
One of our dedicated young men raced in the 500m dash.
A strong group of four young men represented us in the 4x400m relay.
Their hard work and dedication have put CMIT South Track & Field on the map—congratulations to all our athletes!
Week Ahead
Tonight, both Varsity Girls and Boys Basketball teams begin their playoff tournament with games against Largo International.

Middle School Soccer, High School Outdoor Track, and JV Baseball are just around the corner! Student-athletes, be sure to have a completed physical (within the last calendar year) to be eligible for tryouts. Stay tuned for tryout dates and more details!

Are you ready to step up to the plate? High School Baseball Tryouts are just around the corner, and we want YOU to be a part of our team! Whether you're a seasoned player or just love the game, we encourage all students to come out and showcase their skills.

Location: Mellwood Hills Community Park : 7398 Dower House Rd, Upper Marlboro, MD
Important: All players must have a completed and up-to-date physical form in Aktivate to participate. Please submit your form as soon as possible. If you need help please let me know.

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS
National Junior Honor Society Membership Drive
The Sigma Tau Epsilon Mu Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society at CMIT South Middle School is excited to announce that the membership drive will open on March 10, 2025!
The criteria for selecting eligible, new candidates/members are as follows:
Enrolled for one semester at CMIT South in grades sixth, seventh, or eighth grade.
Obtain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
Eligible students will be notified and required to complete and submit the following:
Candidate information forms to include recommendations by the communicated deadline for further consideration.
The selection process is as follows:
New members will be selected during the second semester of the school year.
Evaluated based on the service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
Members shall be selected by a majority vote of the faculty council, which consists of five faculty members appointed by the principal.
Special Note: An active member in good standing of the National Junior Honor Society from a Prince George’s County Public School, who transfers to CMIT South MS will be automatically accepted for membership in this chapter. The faculty council will allow the transferring member one semester to attain the membership requirements. Thereafter, the NJHS member must maintain those requirements for this chapter in order to retain his/her membership.
