It's almost that time....
📚 First Day Procedures 📚
Our doors open at 7 am daily. Tomorrow, for the first day, you will be able to walk your child to his/her class. This, of course, is not a requirement, but the option is available. Please be mindful that traffic will be a little heavier on the first day as people are looking for parking, so plan for a little extra time. On the first day ONLY, parents are able to park in the gravel lot. After the first day, you may not park in this lot. We will have a "soft start" on the first day, with class beginning at 7:45 am, instead of 7:25 am. So, please plan accordingly! 😀 On the second day of school, we will begin our regular routine of all students walking in independently.
🚘 Car Line Procedures 🚘
Here are some gentle reminders about our car line procedures at SIES.
- Don't get out of your car. This ensures that the car line keeps running efficiently.
- If your child is still in a car seat, please move the car seat to the passenger side. It's a good idea to have them practice buckling and unbuckling themselves.
- Students only enter and exit through the passenger side.
- If your child needs assistance buckling, please wait and drive up past the flag pole. There, you can assist your child with buckling, but moving up allows traffic to flow around you.
- Students may not be dropped off prior to 7 am. Please do not let students out of your car until the bell rings. Also, please don't allow students to exit your car near the fence area....pull all the way up to the sidewalk.
- In order to keep our line moving as efficiently as possible, it is important to pay attention and keep the gap small between cars. Please make sure you are not using your cell phone in the car line to help us with this process.
- Please note: If you have 1) pulled up in front of the school, 2) are stopped, and 3) are next to the sidewalk, then student(s) should be exiting your vehicle. Please do not wait and drive your child all the way up to the front door. When everyone follows these procedures, we can unload 10 or more cars at a time, and the line moves much faster.
👟 Walker Procedures 👟
Here are some gentle reminders about our walker procedures at SIES. Please read carefully.
Note: If your child is a walker, then he/she should be able to walk to a destination independently. Once students leave our campus, we are no longer able to monitor them.
- Please do not drop off or pick up students at the end of the bus loop. After reviewing safety plans, if you are coming from the direction of the bus loop, it is best if you walk through the beach path into the gravel lot and meet your child at the stop sign at the edge of our campus.
- If you are meeting a walker, you may wait at the stop sign at the edge of our campus near the gravel lot.
- For safety reasons, parents may not walk into the car/bus area for arrival and dismissal. Please do not walk up to the school unless you are coming in to volunteer or check into the main office.
🚍 FirstView App 🚍
If you use the FirstView app to monitor bus routes at any CCSD school, please note that the district will now only use ONE code for the entire district (instead of a unique code per school). CCSD's code is GF8G.
This is a recent change and is different from the one listed in our Family Handbook. Please click on the link below to access a step-by-step guide for the app.

🚗 School Dismissal Manager 🚗
Emails were sent out on Thursday, August 8th from our School Dismissal Manager program concerning parent credentials and login instructions. Follow the instructions included in the email carefully to set up the default dismissal for each of your children. Please note, however, that all information imported in School Dismissal Manager comes straight from PowerSchool. It may take several days to reflect any class changes or new registrations. If you have not yet received an email from School Dismissal Manager, it is most likely because your information is not yet updated in PowerSchool. As soon as this occurs, you will receive an email.
Default dismissals and accounts need to be set up as soon as possible so we can verify proper dismissal for each student on the first day of school. Additionally, if your child rides the bus, please ensure that the correct bus stop is listed.
Just a reminder that teachers cannot accept text messages, written notes, or emails to change dismissal. All changes must be made through School Dismissal Manager, so please plan accordingly. All changes must be submitted by 1:15 pm on regular school days.
For any questions regarding school dismissal, please contact Erin Wiseman at erin_wiseman@charleston.k12.sc.us.
