We are so excited to announce our partnership with Austin ISD! Initially, our focus with Austin ISD will be increasing enrollment in PreK. Austin ISD is a wonderful district with many opportunities for students. We are so excited to get started!!

If your district has an upcoming school board election, please get educated on the candidates. Local elections are the MOST IMPORTANT elections as they directly affect your daily life and your children. There are many elections happening in May, please look into who is running and who is already involved with their schools and district. We want candidates who care about their neighborhood schools and who have put the time into getting to know their communities. Check out any candidate forums being held that will spotlight the candidates. For example, NEISD Council PTA is putting on 3 forums for candidates in their single member districts. This is a great opportunity to find out the kind of involvement the candidates have had with the schools around their home. If they are involved prior to their election, then you know they'll be involved during their time as a school board member. Please do your research.

We had such a blast cheering on the Men's and Women's soccer teams at the Future Volunteer game. It was so fun to see so many middle and elementary students cheering on their teams! The National Anthem sung by the middle school choir students of Nimitz and Jackson was fabulous. The games were intense!! Thanks to everyone who came out in support! #RootEdLEE

Who can apply?

A senior in good standing from: NISD, NEISD, Southside ISD, Harlandale ISD, SWISD, ECISD, Floresville ISD, Austin ISD or Alamo Heights ISD who is graduating this spring 2022. The applicant must have plans to continue their education (plan to attend a university, college, or trade school).

All applications need to be turned in no later than Monday, April 18th, 2022.

LeeArica Mentzer, the RootEd Rep at Huebner Elem in NEISD is so deserved of our spotlight this month. She has been with us since the beginning, sharing stories of her school and going above and beyond for RootEd. This month she spoke in front of a group of moms to share why choosing your neighborhood school is important. We are so blessed to have LeeArica in our organization.
