Official Results
Our "official" scarecrow contest results are in!
Scarecrows were officially judged by Hamburg's Deputy Clerk / Registrar Jean Stephens, Acting Clerk Beth Martin, Administrative Assistant Kristen Kelly, and Fire Chief Ricky Padgett. We were thrilled to have them join us and are grateful for their help.
A rubric for judging was used, and scarecrows were judged based on six categories: Theme Interpretation, Creativity, Craftsmanship, Visual Appeal, Use of Materials, and Overall Impact. Scores were given for each scarecrow in every area and the final results are in.
In 1st place, we have "The Grinch" scarecrow;
In 2nd place, we have the Mo Willems "Pigeon" scarecrow;
In 3rd place, we have the "Mouse" scarecrow from If You Give A Mouse A Cookie.
Judges gave additional comments, such as "Awesome!" for our Charlie Brown scarecrow, "Very cool and unique!" for the Grinny Granny Donkey, and "Love the dog and police theme; going to have to read this book!" for the DogMan scarecrow. A full list of additional comments will be given to each contestant.
It was an extremely close race with several scores being within half of a point of each other! Winning classrooms will receive "book baskets" with items related to their scarecrow theme inside. We had a fun time with this contest and look forward to having it again next year!
Preschool Nature Walk
Our preschoolers recently enjoyed a family nature walk and fall scavenger hunt,
where they explored the outdoors together. During the walk, they excitedly shared
what they’ve learned from our tree study, identifying different leaves, acorns,
and other natural items. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to connect
and reinforce the children’s learning in a hands-on way.
