CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR RETIREMENT!
We want to congratulate Mrs. Glidden and Mme. Graves on their retirements! We can’t thank them enough for their hard work and contributions to our school! Enjoy your well deserved time with family and friends!
Mrs. Glidden's message
Dear Sifton Community,
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for being able to work with all of you over the past five years. My time at École Sifton School has been wonderful! I have gotten to know a lot of amazing students who have many gifts and talents. As well, the staff at Sifton have also been a fantastic group of individuals to work with. They give their hearts daily to the students in their care. After being in this profession for 33 years, I have decided to retire and seek out some new adventures in life. Hopefully, I will be able to see you around town this summer and in the future. Please stop me and say hi!
Mrs. Glidden

Important Information
Pre-K / Kindergarten Registration
Success Starts Early! Battle River School Division is accepting registrations for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten as of Feb. 1, 2024. Register your Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten student early to start school with BRSD for the 2024-25 school year.
Register your Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten Student here.
Transportation Registration Announcement
BRSD Transportation is pleased to announce that bus registration for the 2024/25 school year opened at 9 a.m. on April 17, 2024, and will close at 4 p.m. on June 27, 2024.
The change in the registration window will allow for more timely notification of student bus assignments. This change also allows for better communication between schools, families and transportation department staff. Earlier route assignments help bus drivers to be fully prepared for the upcoming school year and adjust to any route changes that may occur.
Students from the City of Camrose and the Town of Tofield must register annually. For all other locations, students need to register only if this is the first time they have ridden a BRSD school bus, such as new students beginning Kindergarten.
Additionally, students that have had changes to their contact information, such as physical address or school of attendance, are required to register. If there are no changes to student contact information, rural students will automatically be included in the route plans for the upcoming school year, and there will be no need for them to register.
Applications for school of choice/cross boundary transportation will be available at 9 a.m. on May 1, 2024.
For more details and eligibility information, please visit www.brsd.ab.ca/families/transportation.
It's field trip time!
Please remember the all field trip permission forms must be filled out online. Watch for messaging coming home from the school when forms are posted.
Field trip forms can be found in the Parent Portal ---> School Fees and Forms (menu option on the left hand side towards the bottom)
Please contact the school if you have any questions.

The grade 5 students will have the opportunity eat lunch with all the staff members, and then watch a video created just for them. The link for the video will be shared with grade 5 parents after that date.

Tumblebooks is available on the website or app.
From May 13 - August 26 students can take advantage of the Sora Sweet Reads program. Sora Sweet Reads is designed for schools to encourage students to keep reading all year long. They are offering a collection of free, simultaneous-use ebooks (and select audiobooks) that spans grades K-12. These titles will be available to participating schools and prominently displayed in Sora so it’s easy for students to find their next sweet read.

Parent Council Update
** THANK YOU! MERCI BEAUCOUP! **
Parent School Council would like to express their deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to Jen
Zimmerman for her long-time dedication, volunteerism and leadership on Ecole Sifton’s Parent School Council. Jen has served the school and its many families on Parent School Council as either secretary, vice-chair or chair since 2016! Jen always took her Council duties seriously and was a highly dedicated, professional and thoughtful team player. We appreciated her willingness to support our various events and fundraising efforts, and are most grateful for her active leadership as a judicious steward of Parent School Council funds. Thank you SO MUCH Jen for all you have given to Ecole Sifton over the past 8 years! You are leaving the Ecole Sifton community a better place for future students to learn and grow, and for that we are all forever thankful.
Parent School Council would also like to acknowledge and thank Mary-Anne Falk for her 4+ years of
volunteer service as the group’s Fundraising Coordinator. Over the past several years, Ecole Sifton’s
annual Davison Orchards fundraiser as well as the Christmas and spring plant fundraisers would likely not have happened without Mary-Anne’s superior organizational and planning skills. It was also thanks to Mary-Anne that the ongoing bottle depot fundraiser was established. These fundraising initiatives resulted in thousands of dollars that funded events or purchased items such as volleyball nets, pinnies, sleds and classroom equipment for the entire student body to enjoy. Thank you Mary-Anne for your dedication and commitment to helping make Ecole Sifton a great place to be and learn.
URGENT HELP NEEDED! CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
WE NEED YOU!! From ROAR ticket prizes and Friday hot lunches, to gym equipment and year end field trips, Ecole Sifton’s Parent School Council raises funds for supplies and school equipment, plus supports a wide variety of events that enhance your child’s elementary school experience. It truly takes a village to create and provide the opportunities our children have been enjoying and have come to expect at Ecole Sifton!
These supports are greatly valued by parents, students and teachers; however, many will be lost without additional Parent School Council volunteers. There are volunteer opportunities for everyone, from a few hours per year to regular leadership opportunities on Council. Specifically, Parent School Council is in serious need of a co-chair and fundraising coordinator.
Please complete the following survey to share with us how YOU can help build and strengthen our
school community, and also contribute to the overall experience and success of students at Ecole
Sifton. Thank you!!
