Message From The Principal
Hello Weaver Lake families,
We are a month into the school year already. It has been a great start to the school year. We have a couple of safety drills already completed, our first school wide assembly has been held, some field trips taken, and other special events, including 2nd grade's visit from the Plant Mobile and 3rd grade's visit from the Raptor Center. Students dissected worms, met the crayfish, and are growing plants using hydroponics. PTO has completed two fundraisers including a very successful Color Run. We appreciate your support in our fundraisers’ initiatives because they pay for our amazing STEM activities, field trips and special art events.
If you have not already done so, please complete the Educational Benefits application. Based on your income you may qualify to receive free or discounted prices for many educational experiences including field trips, band instruments, internet rates and electricity bills. Please click HERE to apply. It’s important to apply because not only does it benefit you, it also is an additional funding source for our school.
We appreciate the great work done by our teaching staff implementing two brand new curriculums: phonics and reading. All of the staff continues our learning journey and implementation of restorative practices. A district expert is teaching us how to implement different types of circles besides community building circles. Restorative practices actively engage the students in a reflective process about the impact of their actions on others and how to solve a problem.
Regarding staffing, Tuesday, October 1st is the first day for our new school social worker, Ms. Rebecca Buckley. We are still looking for qualified candidates for the behavior ESP position. Ms. Weaver will be back in a couple of weeks, and we thank Ms. Cindy Swanson for helping us out during Jessica’s medical leave.
The second week of October is parent-teacher conferences.
Thank you for your support and have a great October
Dr. Ronald Salazar

Student Pick Drop Off and Pick Up Reminder
Parent Drop Off Procedure:
Parents/daycare vehicles pull to the curb in front of the building, past the front entrance as far as possible leaving the fire lane open. Students exit or enter the vehicle curbside only. Please do not stop within the crosswalk as it creates an unsafe situation for our students. If you are not dropping off at the curb, please park your vehicle and walk your student(s) across the crosswalk. Children MUST be escorted across the crosswalk by an adult. For the safety of all, please refrain from using your cell phone while dropping off your student(s).
Parent Pick Up Procedure:
Students will be dismissed for parent pick up at 3:55 p.m. Pick up your student(s) by the sidewalk in front of the school. Your student(s) must be ready to enter the vehicle on the passenger side. Proceed as far as possible down the curb so other vehicles can pull up behind you. Please do not stop within the crosswalk.
If you arrive early, or simply choose to do so, please park your vehicle and use designated parent pick up spaces on the south end of the lot. You will then need to exit your vehicle and cross at a crosswalk to connect with your student(s) on the sidewalk. Your student(s) will not be allowed to cross the crosswalk without an adult with them. Please follow safety patrol directions.

Weaver Wear Recycle Project Wrap-Up 9/9 - 9/22
In our first collection drive of the year, we received 14 items that fit students ranging from K-5th grade. The donated clothing items will be distributed to Weaver Lake Elementary students to enable them to participate in Weaver Wear Days! In addition, 13 like-new adult items were donated and have been used for two staff giveaways this fall. We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to our generous families that donated items to students at our school. If you are doing a bit of fall cleaning and find Weaver Wear that you are ready to pass along to a new home, please bring the items to one of the donation events throughout the year. Our next donation drive will be held November 18-December 2. We appreciate everyone who donated gently used Weaver Wear this year and hope we continue to have this community involvement for years to come!
How To Request a Donated Weaver Wear Item:
If you would like to request for your student(s) to receive a donated Weaver Wear item, please reach out to Beth Bergfield who can connect you with the school counselor or social worker. They maintain the stock of donated items and makes sure every item can find a new home. They will work with you to find the right size and style so that your students can rock their new Weaver Wear around the halls!

Volunteers are needed to monitor students while they build and create with the blocks so that the recess ESPs are free to monitor the rest of the students outside.
