Mustang News - October 11, 2024
From The Principal
Congratulations to Hayden D. for placing at State Golf last week! Also good luck to our Cross Country Team as they compete in the TriPeaks League Championship today and to our Robotics Team as they take on their first competition this year!
We hope to see many of you at tonight’s football game, where we will also be celebrating the dedication of George Rykovich Stadium!
We also want to thank all the students and staff who participated in the PSAT 9 and PSAT NMSQT on Wednesday. This was a great opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge, for staff to gather valuable student achievement data, and for juniors to potentially qualify for significant scholarships through the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about Family Conferences on Thursday, October 24, and Friday, October 25. We’re grateful for this opportunity to celebrate students’ learning and to collaborate with families on the best ways to support their continued growth!
Have an awesome weekend!

Principal
Big congratulations to Hayden D. with his 10 place finish at the 3A State Championship this week!! Hayden was outstanding on and off the course. He represented MSHS well.
Join Us Tonight
After gathering community input, we’re excited to announce that the Manitou Springs School Board of Education has officially approved renaming our stadium "George Rykovich Stadium" in honor of our legendary coach, George Rykovich!
Join us for a special dedication ceremony during our varsity football game on Friday, October 11th at 7 PM as we celebrate Coach Rykovich's incredible legacy. We want to pack the stands to honor the man who led the Mustangs to 222 victories and two state championships (1987 & 1990) during his 36 years as head coach.
Coach Rykovich was also formally inducted into the Colorado High School Activities Association Hall of Fame on January 23, 2023—an honor only two Mustangs have received.
Let’s come together as a community to honor Coach Rykovich’s extraordinary contributions to our school and the state. More details will be shared soon—stay tuned! Be part of this historic moment and cheer on the Mustangs!
