THE EVERGREEN EXPRESS
EVERGREEN ELEMENTARY-FAMILY CONNECTION
Oct. 27, 2024
Greetings Evergreen Families,
Red Ribbon Spirit week has arrived. This week we are celebrating the importance of being drug free and raising awareness about preventing the use of drugs, alcohol, and smoking. Below you may reference the theme days planned. Please be mindful about Thursday's Book/Movie Character day. Please no full face paint or toy weapons.
The students and staff truly enjoyed the Mobile Science Lab experience. Thank you to the parent volunteers who supported Mr. M with his lessons.
On behalf of the Evergreen staff, thank you to all who contributed to our delicious and amazing luncheon provided last Wednesday.
There will not be an issue of THE EVERGREEN EXPRESS on Nov. 3rd. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the upcoming PTO Turkey Trot scheduled for Nov. 9th:)
Wishing you well,
Principal Fowler

SCHOOLWIDE GOAL: TEACHING STUDENTS ABOUT ZONES OF REGULATIONS:
The Zones of Regulation is an internationally renowned intervention which helps children to manage difficult emotions, known as ‘self-regulation’. Self-regulation can go by many names such as ‘self-control’, ‘impulse management’ and ‘self-management’. Self-regulation is best described as the best state of alertness for a situation. For example, when your child takes part in a sports game, they would need to have a higher state of alertness than when, for example, they were working in a library.
From time to time, all of us (including adults) find it hard to manage strong feelings such
as worry, anger, restlessness, fear or tiredness, and this stops us from getting on with our
day effectively. Children who feel these emotions often find it hard to learn and
concentrate in school. The Zones of Regulation aims to teach children strategies to help
them cope with these feelings so they can get back to feeling calm and ready to learn.
These coping strategies are called ‘self-regulation’.
**We are sharing with the goal of building common language between school and home.
More to follow throughout the next few weeks from Ms. Wiley, Dr. Ramirez and Ms. Ledig:)

PTO UPDATES:
**The PTO has partnered with the EES MTSS Team and Principal Fowler to get the Paws Cart up and running so students can redeem those Paws they’ve been working hard to earn. They would love the cart to have a wide assortment of items for students to choose from or work towards earning if they want to save up their Paws. If you are looking for a fun and easy way to donate or be involved, please consider donating items for the cart! We’ve made a wish list of items suggested by EES! Please email president@evergreenpto.org with any questions, thank you!
