Parents need to use the daycare drop-off, as a Kiss-and-Drop lane. The students are to get out of the vehicle and walk on the sidewalk, and vehicles are to drive off. Vehicles can't be parked in the Kiss-and-Drop lane, in the morning. Staff members on duty will be supervising children walking on the sidewalk, to enter the schoolyard.

All students must bring their own utensils from home, whether they are ordeing a catered lunch or bring lunch/snacks from home.
Also, all students must bring a reusable water bottle, as we will not be providing cups.
Schoolyard
Grade 2 Dental Screening
On November 6th, our school will have a visit from a dental hygenist. They will be screening the grade 2 students' teeth (only the ones who have permission).
Monthly Assemblies
Every month, the students will have a monthly asslembly where we will talk about our school values, introduce a monthly character trait, and share any information that they need to know.
During the month of October, we introduced COMPASSION. On November 5th, we will have our second monthly assembly, where students will receive a Compassion Certificate. We will also be introduce PERSEVERANCE for the month of November.
Caught Being Kind Certificates
As a way of reinforcing one of our school values (Kindness), we will be introducing Caught Being Kind certificates to students.
When a student receives a Caught Being Kind certificate, they are to bring it home to get signed by their parent(s), and then brought back to school. They are to bring it to the principal's office, so that they can be displayed on the bulletin board near the office.
School Logo
Being a brand-new school, we have the opportunity to create our very first school logo for Heritage Elementary School.
During our November 5th assembly, we will be asking students to give ideas of what they would like to see on our school logo. We will also be sending out a survey to all members of our school communuity.
All proposals will be looked at, and a professionally made logo will be created.
Halloween - October 31st
On Thursday, October 31st, Heritage students will be celebrating Halloween. All students are invited to arrive to school in costume. Students will be following their regular schedules for most of the day, but we have a fun activity planned in the cafeteria, courtesy of our Cycle 3 students. We will also have a pumpkin contest (by cycle) and a costume parade.
Children are encouraged to dress up for Halloween. Please make sure that costume accessories such as weapons (i.e. swords, guns, etc.) remain at home; otherwise they will be confiscated. No masks, violent costumes that include weapons, etc. will be permitted. Please exercise good judgement when making decisions about the appropriateness of costumes.
If you are planning on sending in treat bags for your child's class, please make sure that all items are peanut and nut free. In case of allergies, all treat bags will be sent home with the children, to open with their parent(s).
Thank you for your collaboration in this matter.
Remembrance Day
Wall of Honour - Pictures
As Remembrance Day approaches, we are planning our Wall of Honour. This is a wall in our school where we post pictures of veterans and active soldiers from our Heritage community to commemorate their service and sacrifice. If your child has any relatives who have served for the Canadian Military, please send in a picture of them by November 6th. Please write the soldier's name on the back of the pictures, as well as your child’s name, and their relation.
Looking for Veteran Guest Speaker(s)
We are also reaching out for any veterans who are interested in speaking at our school assembly on November 11th, with the possibility of also having a Question/Answer period in our Cycle 2 & 3 classrooms. If you know anyone, or are interested yourselves, please send an email expressing so to croberge@swlauriersb.qc.ca.
Term 1 Report Cards & Parent/Teacher Night
Please note that Term 1 Report Cards will be going out on November 20th.
Parent/Teacher Night will be held on November 21st. Teachers will be sending out a letter regarding Parent/Teacher Meetings.
