Expert Listeners in Training!!!
Mrs. Hannah taught lessons last week all about being an expert listener!
The students and Mrs. Hannah read a social story about a student learning the importance of listening.
Students learned that to be an expert listeners they should:
Keep their eyes on the speaker.
Voices are off.
Brains are thinking about what the speaker is saying.
Talk with your kiddo about what it means to be an expert listener. Ask them:
When Mrs. Hannah visited the library, you learned about expert listening skills. Who remembers the three important things expert listeners do?
Why is it important to be an expert listener?
Why is it important to be an expert listener at school?
When do you need to be an expert listener at school?
Practice their listening skills at home and play a game of Simon Says and give them easy directives like this....
Sit down - Pat your belly
Stand up - Touch your ears
Turn around in a circle - Do a silly dance
Jump up and down - Do a jumping jack
Hop on one foot - Smile at a friend
Clap your hands - Put both hands on your head
Touch your knees - Flap your arms like a bird
Put your arms in the air - Show me what an expert listener looks like!

Lego Club will run different sessions all the way till about Spring Break to give all the kiddos a chance to be in it! If you got a letter stating that your child will be in another session- the week before that session starts, a note will come home with them with all the details! Don't worry! EVERYONE that wants to be in Lego Club will get a chance to be in Lego Club!
