Middle School Cross Country: The MS Cross Country program concluded its very exciting and very accomplished season on Saturday, October 26th. It was an extremely exciting and proud day as 7th grader Ella McGowen WON the girls' state championship with a final time of 13:18! She finished in 1st place out of a total of 203 runners. What an amazing accomplishment from an extremely talented runner! The girls' team overall finished in seventeenth place, and the boys finished in twenty first place. The boys were led by 6th grader Paxton Jessen, who finished in 30th place out of 102 runners! Congratulations to all of the other runners who ran tremendous races, which included Charli Chism(6th grade), Sophie Griepentrog(7th grade), Caroline Hammitt(7th grade), Hollis Holcomb(7th grade), Chloe Lacy(8th grade), Samantha Musgrave(8th grade), Caitlyn O’Brien(6th grade), Ivy Oakes(6th grade), Lauren Oeffling(7th grade), Megha Rao(6th grade), Jillian Stevens(7th grade), Lucas Bohorquez(7th grade), Jonny Cavett(8th grade), Smayan Konanki(7th grade), Imari Maslehatti(8th grade), Gavin McNabb(8th grade), Tait O’Brien(8th grade), Nathan Quintana(7th grade), and Charlie Simcik(7th grade). High School Cross Country: It was an exciting past weekend for the HS Boys Cross Country team. This past Saturday, the Boys Cross Country Team, which included freshman Jack Griepentrog and Scott Thorn, sophomore Rylan Griffith, junior Everett Johnson, and seniors Aarjav Shah and Mitch Hixson, finished 5th at State! This is a truly amazing accomplishment for our cross country program, and it was achieved with a tremendous amount of hard work. To make the day even more special, sophomore Rylan Griffith placed 7th overall, and senior Mitch Hixson finished 17th. These outstanding finishes earned Rylan 1st team all-state and Mitch honorable mention all-state. What an amazing accomplishment for these two gentlemen! Congratulations to everyone who was part of this amazing day and season. A special thank you to our coaches, Dave Reese and Kelly Johnson, for helping lead our team to such an amazing finish to the season.

Volleyball
High School Volleyball:On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the Varsity Volleyball Team beat Sheridan HS in dominating fashion, winning in 3 straight sets. This dominant win was a true team performance, but the offensive dominance was highlighted by junior Mei Li Scholl, who had 10 kills, senior Cam Roe, who had 4 kills, and freshman Evelyn Gilbert, who had 3 kills. What a great victory for these ladies! The C team also played that day against Kent Denver and was able to grind out a great win! This game was highlighted by the strong back row play by freshman Paige Lloyd, who was a receiving machine, along with Emorie Zaharris, who was doing a little bit of everything, especially on the offensive side! The last home game and senior night was Thursday, October 24, against Estes Park. Before the game, we took the time to honor our six seniors, all of who have been in this program since they were freshmen. The seniors we honored were Ashby Deeds, Ryleigh Winter-Munzert, Keke Sullivan, Cameron Roe, Yamiley Gonzalez, and Jenna Ballain. Thank you, seniors, for all you have done for this program, and we cannot wait to see what the next chapter of your life holds. Unfortunately, all three programs battled hard but lost that night.
The next game was on Monday, October 28, at Front Range Christian. The varsity team battled hard and showed glimpses of rallying but, unfortunately, came up short. The JV team won in dominant fashion, winning in two sets behind freshman Ellie McClaughlin’s best game yet, where she dominated the attacking part of the game. The C team also won in two sets behind sophomore Mariella Nylund’s strong killing performance. It was a great game for the JV and C team! The final game of the season came this past Wednesday against Lyons HS, which happened to be the second-best school in our league and is having an incredible season. All three levels fought hard, never giving up something our girls did constantly throughout the season. No matter the score or outcome, all three levels never stopped fighting. However, no team was able to win. This concluded the 2024 season for HS volleyball. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this season. Special thanks to all the coaches who put a ton of time and effort into helping build this program!

SVA SF6 is HEATING UP!! Entering into Week 5 as the 6th Rank Team, we faced off against what should have been a tough matchup, but HHS couldn't compensate for the time and effort SVA has put into learning the game. An extremely decisive victory propelled SVA into the 5th spot, and a matchup against the TOP RANKED La Cueva Bears in Week 6. After being unable to compete in Week 3 - SVA was forced to find a random opponent in the queue system and met up with a very strong Storm Blue team. SVA managed to snag a couple of rounds, but no games within the contest. LOTS of improvement and finding some more role abilities between players. SVA will look to bounce back in Week 6 against the THS Watchers. After a few technical difficulties, we are able to stream our Fortnite Competitions! Week 3 saw our first go and a CLOSE match. Week 5 was the same as SVA, which was able to secure a game-one victory. Things were close in Games 2 & 3, but ultimately, the contest was dropped to the Longhorns. SVA is starting to find some synergy in their gameplay and developing some new strategies that should come to fruition as we get into Week 6. SVA is starting to heat up in Rocket League. After a couple of missteps in the early part of the season, the squad is coming together and elevating each other to new heights! Thanks to some additional practice and heightened player communication, SVA is really looking at making a push for the Playoffs!

The Varsity Dance Team started the season strong at UDA’s 2024 Mile High Regionals Competition on Saturday, October 26th. The team competed in the Varsity Intermediate Poms Division, and this year, they added a new routine and also competed in the Intermediate Jazz division. The girls started the competition strong by performing their Poms Routine, and it showed through their timely executed choreography and great teamwork. Senior Ashley Gorski, Junior Emma Burke, and Sophomore Hailey Burt performed solid doubles to the beat of Guns 'n Roses. The team executed a whole team toe touch in unison and was a crowd pleaser. Following their solid Poms routine, the team moved on to compete in the Intermediate Jazz division. The girls performed a beautiful interpretation of The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. Senior Imani Iverson wowed with her elegant tilt and the height of her leaps. The results placed the team in 2nd Place in the Varsity Intermediate Poms division and 1st place in the Varsity Intermediate Jazz division. Go, Hawkettes!!
