Notes & Reminders
Winter Weather
Every attempt will be made to provide DW students with daily outdoor recess. Appropriate clothing for play is essential. Please be certain that your child(ren) come to school with warm jackets, hats and gloves in cold weather and boots when there is snow on the ground. We believe: Recess provides physical activity that is essential for healthy growth and development. Recess can serve as an outlet for children. Recess activities encourage children to take turns, negotiate, and interact cooperatively, building social skills.
Students will play outdoors daily unless:
- If it's <25 degrees or less during the recess time.
- If there is a weather advisory
- There is snow/ice/debris in most of the space left from a major storm
- It's actively raining/snowing
Rye Neck and ESS Partnership December Parent Resource Zoom Presentation
Topic: Depression in Children and Adolescents
Date: 12/18/24
Time: 10am
Summary:
The goal of this workshop is to help caregivers support and work more effectively with a child suffering from depression. Participants receive an overview of child and adolescent depression, learn how depression can impact school performance, and develop an understanding of treatment options.
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders~
1. Do not drop off students unattended in the morning. This is no supervision. Please wait till staff open the school doors at 8:25 a.m.
2. No left turns into the driveway during arrival and dismissal time. Please join the line on Harrison Avenue.
3. You must display a car sign at dismissal. This assists all of the staff who are bringing students to cars. We are happy to provide another sign, or you can use any paper and write your child's name and teacher. *Please remind all caregivers of this.
Weekly Spotlight
Thank you to the PTSA Social Committee heads, Jessica Gonnella and Rebecca Henderson (and the amazing volunteers) for a super fun - Family Dance Night! The response was tremendous and the highlight was all of the kids dancing together.
