Message From Principal, Dr. Roche:
Dear MVHS Families,
As we prepare to close out 2024 and head into the winter break, I want to take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made together and to share some important updates for the new year.
This semester has been filled with milestones, challenges, and successes. One of our key areas of focus has been 9th-grade success, and I am proud to share that we are seeing meaningful progress. More of our 9th-grade students are earning passing grades and staying on track for graduation, thanks to targeted supports and interventions. Improved attendance has also played a critical role, and we are committed to continuing this focus to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.
As we look ahead to 2025, there are some important changes coming to MVHS. Beginning in January, we will be locking the front door during school hours to enhance campus security. Visitors will need to use the intercom system to check in at the main office. This change reflects our commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all students and staff.
Additionally, we will be redoubling our efforts to improve attendance and punctuality. Being present and on time for school and class is essential for academic success and personal growth. We will continue to work with students and families to address barriers to attendance and create a culture where being here matters.
I hope that the winter break provides you with what you most need whether it is rest, time with loved ones, or a change of your typical schedule. Please also remind your student(s) to return ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities when we resume classes on January 6, 2025.
On behalf of the entire MVHS team, thank you for your ongoing partnership and trust. I wish you all a joyous holiday season and a happy, healthy new year.
Warm regards,
Dr. Colette Roche
Principal

Subject: Warm Holiday Wishes and 9th Grade Support Program Update
Dear 9th Grade Families and Caregivers,
I hope this message finds you well as we approach the holiday season. On behalf of the entire 9th-grade team, I want to take a moment to wish you and your loved ones a warm and memorable holiday. Please know that your students are deeply appreciated, and valued by all of us.
As we approach the final five weeks of the semester, we remain dedicated to supporting our students' success. To this end, we are providing after-school interventions to help 9th graders make up assignments, receive tutoring, and improve their grades as needed. While these sessions are especially beneficial for students who have yet to pass courses, all 9th graders are welcome and encouraged to attend.
If your student would like to connect with their teachers for additional help after school, they can schedule appointments or attend Bulldog Edge for support.
Communication and Participation
If your student is required to participate in these sessions, families will receive a REMIND message on Fridays for the following week, as well as another reminder the day before the session. If you prefer for your student to opt out of attending this program, please email Ms. Kelley Kirkpatrick at kkirpatrick@mvsd320.org.
