8th Grade Promotion Ceremony
Friday, June 14th at 1:00 p.m.
* 8th Graders report to GYM no later than 11:45 a.m. *
Promotion Ceremony Information:
- Date: Friday, June 14th
- Time: Ceremony starts at 1:00 pm
- Duration: 50-60 minutes
- Location: Main athletic field
- Student Drop-Off: Students must be in the gym NO LATER than 11:45 am (Students DO NOT COME to school until 11:45 am)
- Recommended Dress (Students):
- Pants: slacks/khakis (no jeans), dress slacks
- Shirt: polo or button up
- Dresses/Skirts: recommended length to mid-thigh due to potential wind
- Shoes: nice/clean shoes
- Heels: not recommended, walking on grass
- Sandals/Flats/Wedges: Yes
- Parent Entry:
- Gates will be opened at approximately 12:10 pm
- Entry Locations:
- Gate by Boys/Girls Club (West side of building)
- Tennis Court Gates
- Double Gate on Softball Fields (Far end of the school)
- Seating: We will have 1500 to 1600 seats available for families (NO TICKETS NEEDED)
- Where to Sit?
- Students with A-K (Last Name): Condo side of the field
- Students with L-Z (Last Name): Gym side of the field
- Handicap Parking: Spaces will be available and labeled in the Boys/Girls Club parking lot. We would recommend you enter through the Club gate.
- Umbrellas/Shade: Umbrellas can be used UNTIL the start of the ceremony, but they will need to be taken down so everyone can see. Easy Up Shelters will be available toward the back of the seating area for those who have issues with the sun.
- Water: PTSA will be providing water at the Promotion Ceremony to quench your thirst. Cookies will also be available (free) after the ceremony.
- Parking will only be available on the streets, the LCMS tennis courts (limited), and the park across the street. The Von's parking lot is open and is a short walk to school if you are inclined.

WHS Freshman Basketball Camp
Future 9th graders going to Westlake High School and are interested in playing basketball in the Fall '24, sign up to attend Freshman Camp 2024. Camp will run from June 17-19, 2024. Registration is REQUIRED.
WHS Girls Volleyball Team Summer Camp
Future 9th graders interested in Playing Girls Volleyball in the Fall '24 at Westlake High School. There will be a Summer Camp July 15-17 and Tryouts on July 18 from 5-7:30pm. Registration is REQUIRED.

Teen Center Summer Basketball League
The Thousand Oaks Teen Center is thrilled to announce they will be hosting “Summer Hoops” - a Middle School Basketball League for boys in 6th – 8th grade this summer.
The league will run on Wednesday and Thursday nights from July 10th to August 8th. Hour-long games will be played between 5:00-9:00pm (dependent on the number of teams). The league fee is only $150 per player.
Mandatory player evaluations will take place on Wednesday June 27th or Thursday July 3rd from 6-8pm at the Teen Center.
League Champions receive awards and all players receive a game jersey. Parent permission slip/waiver forms need to be signed and submitted upon player registration. Both individual and team registrations are currently being accepted. Space is limited. Register now @www.thousandoaksteencenter.com. Dollar Night - June 29th
Join us for an unforgettable night of fun and food at our Dollar Night event on June 29 from 7-9pm! We're offering hot dogs, snow cones, nachos, ice cream soda water, all for just $1.00 each. This event is open for ages 12-17, so bring your friends and enjoy a night delicious treats and great company!

Attention 8th Grade Families -
The Conejo Schools Foundation will once again be offering Get Ahead Summer School opportunities for Summer 2024. Here are some courses provided:

- Spanish 1/2/3 CP
- Health (3 weeks)
- PE (3 or 6 weeks)
Please see the attached flier for the available courses, cost of taking a class, and when classes begin and end.
Get Ahead Program 2024 Dates to Know
- Registration Opens: February 1
- Semester 1: June 17 – July 3 (no class June 19)
- Semester 2: July 8 – 23
Please note that most courses span the full 6 weeks, with Health or one session of PE as the exceptions.

If you have students at multiple school sites, please submit the form for each school. Additionally, if you opted-in last year, please plan to do so annually.
