Hosford Middle School
November 4th - 8th
Dear Families,
We hope you are enjoying this long weekend with your children. November only has 13 school days, so it can feel a bit different from the rest of the school year. Routines provide comfort and predictability. With changes in time, sunshine, and routines, you may see a change in behavior and productivity. At school, our message to students is, we can all do hard things. Your number one job at this stage of life is as a student, and you need to show up ready to be a learner. (Binder, organized folders, pencil/pen, and Chromebook and dressed for the weather)
Thank you for helping us reinforce these messages at home. It takes a village and we are all in it for your children!
Above please notice our amazing Nutrition and Custodian leads, Renata and Jeff. They are behind the scenes of our operations daily and always have a smile on their face. We are so grateful they have chosen Hosford MS.
Just a reminder that Tuesday is a late start, student arrive around 9:15 am and school starts at 9:30 am.
Conference sign-ups will be coming in a separate email soon!
Have a great week!
Jill Liddle, Principal

High School Options & Information Nights - PPS
Hello 8th grade families! This is an exciting time of year as we start talking about high school and exploring different options. The PPS lottery will be open from November 13 through December 16th. Hosford counselors will be visiting 8th grade social studies classes November 7th and 8th to go over the focus options available, discuss neighborhood schools, and do an overview of what to expect in high school.
Resources/Tips:
- Families should have already received, or be receiving, a letter from enrollment and transfer indicating what your students' neighborhood high school is. If you haven't, or aren't sure, please contact the office or one of the counselors.
- All lottery applications will need to be completed through parentvue. If you have not signed up, please see here.
- Please check out the enrollment and transfer page here for more information about the focus options and the lottery process.

Volunteers - Lunch Supervision
As the weather turns and more students stay inside for lunch, volunteers are needed to help supervise lunch!
There are two lunch periods (12:03 to 12:33 pm and 12:53 to 1:23 pm). Sign up to help at one -or both- using the link below.
Current PPS background check needed; check in at office for name tag when you arrive.
Thank you! This is really appreciated by staff!
Site Council Volunteers
Would you like to help with school planning initiatives and goals? The Hosford Site Council needs three parent volunteers to provide feedback and help work through planning for the school. Site Council is a unique group, consisting of teachers, parents, and administration, where all voices are heard. We meet almost every month for about an hour from 4:15 - 5:00 pm to look at the School Continuous Improvement Plan (SCIP), school data, and plans for programs and professional development. If you're interested in this opportunity to get involved in Hosford, please email Principal Jill Liddle, jliddle@pps.net.

Funds for Hosford!
So far we have raised $3,271. Please help us reach our goal of $12,000 by donating today!
This is the PTSA's biggest fundraiser of the year and it is happening now!
The no-stuff fundraiser was started in 2019 to celebrate 100 years of education at Hosford. This donation drive allows the PTSA to fund student activities, host staff appreciation events and provide teacher grants for technology, books, art supplies and classroom equipment. In other words, it makes an immediate and powerful impact on our school. Every bit helps!

If your child has listening to music as an accommodation on a 504 plan or Individual Education Plan, we have wired headphones that they will wear to access that accommodation. If your child needs noise cancelling headphones, we will have options for this as well.
