Upcoming Road Construction in our Area
The Village of Lindenhurst will be reconstructing Sprucewood Lane and Lake Shore Drive between Rolling Ridge Lane and Beck Road starting Monday, October 7th, with an estimated completion time of Fall 2025. This reconstruction may impact our bus routes at times. We will communicate with those bus route riders as we learn more.
Lake County Department of Transportation has informed us they are resurfacing Deep Lake Road from 132 (Grand Ave) to 173. Lane closures will occur between 9 and 3 daily with an adjusted schedule on Mondays for our late starts. Work is expected to begin in January. We will share additional details as they are provided to us.
LCHS - Advanced Placement School Honor Roll!
College Board announced that Antioch Community High School and Lakes Community High School have been named to the Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll again this year, earning "Silver" distinction at both schools. The AP® School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing a college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. “AP represents an opportunity for students to stand out to colleges, earn college credit and placement, and potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP® program. “The schools have shown that they can expand access to these college-level courses and still drive high performance – they represent the best of our AP program.”
College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. Through AP courses in 38 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond.
We know it takes a significant school wide effort—dedication from teachers, counselors, administrators, students, and parents—to make AP® access a priority. Thank you to our D117 community for this achievement!

D117 Grading Categories
Beginning this school year, all teachers in D117 will use two consistent grading categories: Learning Tasks and Assessments. This shift aims to provide more clarity and consistency across all classes, helping students and parents better understand how grades are determined.
- Learning Tasks are assignments that help students practice and develop new skills. These tasks are usually done during daily lessons and allow students to engage with the material while building their skills. Examples of Learning Tasks include homework, classwork, participation in discussions, and small group activities, among other practice activities.
- Assessments are used to evaluate a student’s mastery of the skills and knowledge taught. These are more formal measures of progress. Assessments may include quizzes, tests, projects, and major essays or presentations.
