Dear Menchaca Families,

As a reminder, Monday is a school holiday as we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King’s unwavering commitment to equality, justice, and service continues to inspire us today. One way we can honor his legacy is by practicing kindness, standing up for what is right, and finding ways to serve others in our community.

Looking ahead, we are expecting chilly weather in the San Antonio area next week. Southside ISD is closely monitoring potential winter weather conditions. If there are any changes to our school day schedules, the district will promptly notify families through our Blackboard Connect messaging system, social media, local media outlets, and our district website.

Additionally, report cards for the previous grading period were made available last week through the Ascender Parent Portal. If you have questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to contact their classroom teacher. Como recordatorio, el lunes será un día festivo escolar en honor a la vida y el legado del Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. El compromiso inquebrantable del Dr. King con la igualdad, la justicia y el servicio sigue inspirándonos hoy en día. Una forma de honrar su legado es practicando la amabilidad, defendiendo lo que es correcto y encontrando maneras de servir a los demás en nuestra comunidad.

Mirando hacia la próxima semana, se espera clima frío en el área de San Antonio. Southside ISD está monitoreando de cerca las condiciones climáticas invernales. Si hay algún cambio en los horarios escolares, el distrito notificará a las familias de manera oportuna a través de nuestro sistema de mensajería Blackboard Connect, redes sociales, medios de comunicación locales y sitio web del distrito.

A Cardinal VIP is like every very important person, they demonstrate excellent behavior and amazing manners. Every month students will be nominated by their peers and administration and these VIPs will be honored at a Board Meeting with a certificate, Cardinal VIP polo shirt, and a goodie bag. Way to go Cardinal VIP’s!

We’re excited to kick off another Stock the Lounge drive as a way to show our love and appreciation for the incredible teachers and staff at Menchaca! Your overwhelming support during our first drive in the fall made a huge impact, and we’re hoping to recreate that success.
