Principal Update 1/13/25
Good Morning Memorial Families,
I hope that everyone enjoyed the weekend and that you weren't too caught off guard, like I was, by the snow that fell on Saturday. It was a good excuse to stay in and get some housework done, but I was certainly surprised to have the snow last all day!
The Memorial family is excited to welcome our newest addition! Mrs. Rossini, one of our special education teachers, gave birth to a baby girl last week. It is a happy new year, indeed, for the Rossini family. If your child has Mrs. Rossini as a teacher, the special education team will be in contact with you this week with more information on how we will be supporting your child during Mrs. Rossini's absence.
I want to direct your attention to the section below my message. As we prepare for the first report cards to be sent home in a couple of weeks, I wanted to make sure that everyone had all of the information that has been shared at your fingertips. The new report card has comment boxes after both the reading and the math section, as well as a general comment box, which will hopefully clarify areas of strength and growth for your child. I also encourage you to print out the math standards that are provided for your child's grade level, so you can better understand the progress grades that your child is receiving in each domain. Next week I will give another overview for everyone, and I do encourage you, after receiving the first report card, to reach out to your child's teacher for clarification if anything is not clear to you. Our goal is for families to have a strong understanding of where their children are performing in relation to the grade level standards, and to have an idea of how to best support at home. We will be sending a family survey in the weeks after the first report card is provided so that we can continue to work towards clear communication.
As a reminder, we have an early release day on Friday. Dismissal begins at 12:00pm. Monday is a holiday, so enjoy the long weekend!
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Wendy
