The online examination request system for the 2025 Grades 3-8 English Language Arts and Mathematics Tests and the Grades 5 & 8 Science Tests will close Friday, November 8, 2024. Please place your order HERE before Nov. 8th if you have not already done so. When placing your order you may ask for copies of “Test Read” by grade level, pursuant to an IEP or 504 Plan for students in those grades. For your Science Grade 5 and 8, you should order Science even though you can leave the Lead Scoring Entity blank. You can always make changes to the system for test orders before Nov. 8 and then “Submit and Certify Your Request” again.
The Math Competition this year is on November 22nd at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. You can register here by Oct. 30th and find out more information here. Each school may register up to 2 teams for each level: grades 3-5 and grades 6-8. Each team may have from 2-6 members on it. Students are asked to wear spirit wear or uniforms to this event. The SPRINT ROUND will be conducted at school a week or two before the competition. The testing pages will be emailed to registered schools on Wednesday, October 31st. They must be completed in class, scanned and emailed back to me by 3pm on November 13th. Our department will do all of the scoring of those pages - just test, scan them and email them back to lwojtaszczyk@buffalodiocese.org.

The Importance of School Fire and Other Safety Drills
School fire drills, along with other safety drills, play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff. These drills help to:
Prepare for emergencies: By practicing evacuation procedures and response protocols, students and staff become familiar with the correct actions to take in case of a fire or other emergency.
Reduce panic: Regular drills help to minimize panic and confusion during real emergencies, as everyone knows their role and responsibilities.
Identify safety hazards: Drills can help to identify potential safety hazards that may need to be addressed to improve overall school safety.
Enhance emergency response: Drills can help to improve the effectiveness of emergency response teams and ensure that they are prepared to handle various types of emergencies.
Types of safety drills that schools may conduct:
Fire drills: These drills simulate a fire emergency and practice evacuation procedures.
Lockdown drills: These drills simulate a threat or intruder situation and practice secure-in-place procedures.
Evacuation drills: These drills practice evacuating the school building for various reasons, such as a natural disaster or chemical spill.
It is important for schools to conduct regular safety drills to ensure that everyone is prepared to respond effectively in case of an emergency. These last, warm days of autumn provide a terrific time to finalize those required drills that take our kiddos outdoors!
Have a blessed and safe week!
