January 31, 2025
Elkins Pointe hosted our Honor Roll Breakfasts on January 28th, 29th, and 30th. The PTSA generously provided a Continental Breakfast for our families and students. To commemorate the exceptional academic achievements of our honor students, Roswell Town Center Chick-fil-A kindly donated 470 chicken biscuits, ensuring each student received one. We extend our gratitude to the Elkins Pointe business partners for their support in celebrating student success.
PRINICPAL'S MESSAGE
Good evening,
I hope that you all have had a great week! This week has been wonderful here. We have had basketball games three nights this week. Our ESOL students are ACCESS testing measuring their growth in language acquisition. We also celebrated students who earned Honor Roll, all As and/or Bs for the first semester. It was a wonderful treat to celebrate students this week at each of the grade level breakfasts. We were also recognized by the state of Georgia for our excellence in mathematics, Elevating Achievement for students through Mathematics. Way to go Math Team! Ms. Roberts and her students also showcased the most beautiful canvas at the Roswell Roots night on Thursday celebrating Black History Month. A lot to celebrate this week!
A few things to know:
1) Student ID: Students received their lanyards today and ID. They should wear these daily. If they forget on a day, they must check into the front office for a daily badge. A replacement lanyard and ID are $10. We understand that this is a change, and we will grant grace as we roll out something new. The goal is to ensure safety throughout out building and campus.
2) Write Score: This is an assessment for ELA that is given to all students grades 3-8. We will begin this assessment on Monday. Please make sure that you child is at school this week in order to complete the assessment by Wednesday. The scores help provide data to determine specific supports for each student in the area of writing and English/Language Arts.
3) Change in 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony: We have been able to get the dates and times for most of our feeder schools and high schools. We are changing the date and time for this event to ensure no overlap. Every family should have the opportunity to see all of their children walk the stage, receive an award, or participate in a promotion ceremony. Forgive our delay, but we have to get this right for our students and families. Stay tuned for official details by the end of next week.
Sincerely,
AJ Smith
Better today than yesterday!
A note about the Elkins Pointe artwork....
Did you know that art students from Elkins Pointe will have artwork on display at Roswell City Hall from now through March 28th? It’s to celebrate the Roswell Roots Festival, which honors Black History Month. This year's artwork honors Ma Rainey, widely considered to be the "Mother of the Blues." Rainey moved to Columbus, Georgia in her older years, and after she died her house was renovated and turned into a Jazz and Blues Museum. Elkins Pointe students across grade levels participated in decoupaging images of Rainey, her band, and classic instruments before painting a vision of The Ma Rainey House. Make sure to go to Roswell City Hall to check it out!

BRAVO ORCHESTRA!
Congratulations to Nathan Chow and Domenico Gatti for being selected for this year’s All State Orchestra! The All State selection process entails a rigorous, 2-round audition process. After passing a district-level audition, our students had to compete in a state-wide audition. These two are among the best young musicians in the state of Georgia! They will participate in the All State Orchestra in Athens at the end of February.

8TH GRADE iFLY FIELD TRIP
8TH GRADE FIELD TRIP TO iFLY
Dear 8th Grade Parents and Guardians,
The 8th grade iFLY field trip coming on February 19. This is the third year, and kids in the past have really enjoyed this force & motion-connected trip. They do some great session rotations at the indoor skydiving facility, so it's more than just a chance to fly!
Forms and money are due February 4th.
Spaces are limited, so the sooner, the better if they are interested.
You can see some general information here if you haven't heard about the trip.
1) Payment for the trip must be made online.
The cost is $40 for the full-flying experience
The cost is $30 for the field trip (but no flying)
- Permission Forms English & Spanish.
Limited scholarship opportunities are available, so don't hesitate to let us know if that is needed.
Parents must complete the permission form and students must turn it in to the science teacher.
- Students will be responsible for making up any work missed.
- Be on time for school! The buses will leave without you.
4) Lunch: * Bring Lunch from the cafeteria or from home (no food at iFly)
Sack lunches are available from the cafeteria (if requested in advance).
Otherwise, plan to bring a lunch from home.
- Once a student has registered (form and online payment), they will be given a card with the waiver link that must be completed before flying.
- Your child's birthday will be the "password" for their waiver form. Students' names are manually added to the system, so if it isn't there when you first check, try again.
- Otherwise, notify Mr. Bradley so he can take care of it. (In the waiver system, you fill out guardian information first and indicate - not flying, then student information - is flying)
