Thoughts from Dr. Voelkl
Each morning following the first bell we share a prayer together as a school community. This week we reflected on and shared prayers about many of the Saints of December. Often this time of year so many of our thoughts land on comparing ourselves to others in order to make sure we have the right "stuff" and are engaged in the"perfect" experiences with our families. We often hear the phrase "Comparison is the thief of JOY." Comparison does not always have to be the thief of JOY. Perhaps instead we can spend time counting our blessings and reflecting on how we can be more saintly in our own lives. This particular year has also brought an added level of anxiety, frustration, fear and a host of emotions that are a result of our inability to control all that is happening around us. May we look to the weeks ahead with a spirit of hope and a heart filled with faith.
Thank you for the special month of December,
a month of bright starlight
and the month of the birth of your son, Jesus,
the light of the world.
Thank you for saints, Lucy, Nicholas, Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Through their example, we can be better servants and grow closer to you.
Fill our hearts with December starlight and the light of baby Jesus
so we can shine for others.
Amen

What to expect from ADHD/ADD- Speaker, Amy Moss
Amy Moss works for West Co. Psychological. She will be discussing things to look for if you feel like your child may have ADHD/ADD. This is a great discussion on what would be the next steps to take with your child and how to better serve your child. This will also help dispel some myths that you may have. This is a great platform to be on if you coach children that may have ADD/ADHD as well. This will help you understand how their brain works and how to better serve them.
ADD/ADHD are often misunderstood. These children need tools and strategies to assist them in their daily lives, just as a student with glasses, asthma, etc need tools and additional support to live their best life.
Hope you can join us!

*** To follow up on the email that was sent out earlier this week, we want to stress the importance of masks. Masks must have a minimum of two layers. Most Gators do not have two layers, so please do not have your child wear them. We have also found that students who wear the Gators do not consistently wear them properly. Not wearing masks or gators properly WILL result in students being quarantined. We would REALLY like to eliminate Gators when we return after Christmas.
Good options for masks (but not limited to):

PLEASE go to FACTS and fill out the medical portion of each child. It is very important for us to know about your child. Please let us know any medication they may take in the morning- ADHD, Allergy, etc
