Patriot's Pointe
Greetings Patriot Families,
Our American Literature, U.S. History and Algebra Concepts and Connections courses all took their county-wide interim assessments last week. Parents please expect a report regarding class performance and check your child's Infinite Campus portal for individual score results. The interim assessments are an indicator of how our students are doing relative to achieving mastery on the standards in preparation for the End of Course Assessments in the Spring.
Congratulations to our Teacher of the Month: Ms. Joanna McMillen and our Professional of the Month: Ms. Crystal McDow! We will kick off our celebration of Hispanic Heritage month this week! We have activities and fun themes for each day this week. Please see the flyers further down in our newsletter for all of the details. Congratulations to our SCHS Chorus as they participated in a one-day Sing Fest at Georgia State University.
This week at The Creek you can come out on Tuesday to support our JV and Varsity Softball teams as they face off at home against Fayette County High School. Our Varsity Volleyball team will play at home on Thursday night against Spalding and LaGrange High Schools. Congratulations to Coach Smiley and our Varsity Football team for shutting out Trinity on the road 45-0 and our JV Football team also picked up a win on the road against McIntosh High School. Our Varsity Football team will take a much needed rest during our bye week before getting on the road again next Friday.
We are excited to support our students in their academic endeavors while providing them with a Competitive Advantage!

Fine Arts Spotlight
Students from the SCHS Chorus traveled to Georgia State University on Wed, Sept 11th. SingFest! is an annual one-day festival comprised of rehearsals, opera theater workshops, and a concert performance alongside Georgia State’s University Singers in an intensive honor choir event. Students from various high schools in the Atlanta region come together as one choir in downtown Atlanta to make great music in the Southeast’s richest cultural center and perform in the historic Rialto Center for the Arts. They represented our program and Sandy Creek with excellence and class.

Digital Scoreboard Fund Raiser for SCHS
We have a rich tradition in athletics here at Sandy Creek with more than 10 State Championships in sports such as football, basketball, track, and volleyball.
Our scoreboard was built in 1991 and we are in need of a new board to match our dynamic and talented athletic teams. The vision at Sandy Creek High School is to provide students a competitive advantage in whatever endeavor they choose after high school. With your assistance we can help the students prepare for those endeavors while branding your business and supporting our community. Please view the information attached about the sponsorship and digital scoreboard.

Georgia Tech Women in Engineering
The Georgia Tech Women in Engineering Program is excited to announce that registration is open for our annual Engineering Career Conference (ECC) – our STEM outreach program for young women who are current junior and senior high school students!
ECC is designed to give high school girls knowledge and information about the eleven engineering disciplines offered at Georgia Tech to help them decide if they'd like to study engineering in college, and, if so, which type of engineering is best for them.
This year's ECC will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 8:30AM to 4:30PM in Georgia Tech’s Exhibition Hall.
Over the course of a day, prospective female students have the opportunity to hear directly from Georgia Tech's world-renowned faculty and current Tech students about the various engineering majors offered at GT. In addition, attendees have the chance to meet with a GT Admissions Counselor to find out about the admissions process and the academic requirements necessary to be successful in the engineering undergraduate programs.
The non-refundable registration fee for ECC is $40, which covers all materials as well as breakfast and lunch for all attendees of the program; need based scholarships are available and we encourage all students to apply.
The application link may be found here. There is also a QR code in the attached flyer so students! Applications will be open until September 15th.
If teachers are interested in bringing a group of students, students will need to register individually, and note the teacher’s name as their chaperone. We can only accommodate 1 group of 10 per school, with 1 teacher as a chaperone. Teachers ARE NOT able to register on student’s behalf.
Free College Essay Help with Notable Narratives!
About Notable Narratives:
NN is a 501 (c)(3) college essay service organization that provides completely free college essay editing services to first generation and/or low income (FGLI) high school seniors applying to college. We do this by pairing college applicants with FGLI college students, as having an advisor that comes from a similar background will allow students to feel more comfortable receiving help
Since our founding in August 2020:
Our 90 FGLI college advisors have assisted over 1,750 students from 102 unique countries and all 50 states.
1 in 4 students who filled out our annual survey were accepted into an Ivy League or Stanford University.
94% of our students were BIPOC, and 50% identified as both first-generation and low-income.
We encourage you to read more about our impact through our Impact Report, website, and Instagram. We are excited to help even more students this year!
Next Steps:
Attached is a Registration Form for you to share with your students. NN’s services are available to those who self-identify as low income and/or first generation; students do not need to identify as both to apply. I will also be sending this resource to the SCHS counselors.

Parent Square
The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.
- Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
- Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
- After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.
