6th Grade and New Student Orientation
Dear Parents of Incoming Beatrice Middle School 6th Graders and New Students,
The transition from elementary to middle school is an exciting time in the lives of your children. It often brings a mix of emotions and we recognize the wonders and questions that accompany such a transition. For that reason, we will be having a 6th grade and new student orientation night on Wednesday, August 7th at 5:15pm (see schedule below).
If you cannot make orientation night, beginning August 5th students (accompanied by their guardian) may practice their locker combinations and find their classrooms during between 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. We’re excited to welcome families into our doors, meet our teachers, and get a glimpse of some of the new things we have in store at Beatrice Middle School. See you soon!
Orientation Schedule
5:15 PM: Doors Open. If you need a copy of your schedule, please pick it up with the front office. Proceed to your student's Mentor classroom.

Notes from the Nurse
**Reminder for 7th grade physicals and Immunizations**
Any current 6th grader going into 7th grade needs a physical and current Tdap vaccine before school starts in August. Physicals and proof of vaccine are due in the nurse’s office BEFORE the first day of 7th grade. **If we do not have proof of vaccine and physical on file the first day of school your student may be excluded from school on a medical exclusion until Tdap and/or physical is completed (per Nebraska Law (79-444) and State Stature 79-4,171; 7904,117(1)(b); (2),(3).** Any student wanting to participate in a sport in the 2023-2024 school year will need a sports physical dated after May 1st before participating (7th grade physicals count towards sports also, so no need to get a sports physical if your child had a 7th grade physical).
Medications
If you wish to send PRN (as needed) medication to school with your child for headaches, dental/ orthodontia pain, colds, etc… it must be brought in the original container and a medication consent form must be filled out and signed by a parent or legal guardian, according to Nebraska Law. Medication must be provided by parent/guardian, BPS does not provide as needed medication for students. If the medication is not in the original container and a consent form is not completed, the medication will NOT be given. You may pick up a form at the front office, the nurse’s office or print from BPS site. Beatrice Middle School DOES NOT supply over the counter medications for students, these must be provided by the parent/guardian. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.
