JOHNSON FAMILY NEWSLETTER
OCTOBER 2024
PRINCIPAL CORNER
Dear Johnson Families,
I would like to start October’s newsletter with a heartfelt “Thank You” to all parents who came to Parent/Teacher Conferences!
The road to October will be filled with busy times. We have worked super hard to communicate and to put systems in place throughout the school day. I thank you for being kind, understanding, and supportive of our school.
Moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, guardians, and all Johnson families…your children have been amazing! They have brought joy and happiness to our school. They fill our days with friendship, safe choices, and lots of learning.
We continue to work on Attendance and Positive Behaviors. It is important for our students to show up to school every single day! Our Attendance Protocol includes teaming up with our community to support our students with necessary resources.
We continue to practice safety protocols such as fire drills, lock down, shelter in place and securing the building. Our Safety Awareness Committee meets monthly to go over important concerns. The safety of our students is our number one priority and always will be.
Our students have spent the past weeks testing with DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of basic Literacy Skills), and our Second and Third Graders completed the beginning of the Year Benchmark Test, their results will guide our teachers to properly address their academic needs.
Our Student Council Representatives have done an amazing job in leading our school in morning announcements. What a joy it is to recognize such young leaders.
We have Fall Break coming up which will be great for our soul, we have had such a successful first quarter, our amazing staff pours so much time and passion into their teaching and classrooms. Have a wonderful October. Fill it with good books and fun family memories! Help us build a better Johnson Primary for our Rainbow Makers and a better future for our communities.

JOHNSON LIBRARY
Hello Johnson Families,
As students start to complete their practice library books, they will be bringing their library books home to read. This is a fantastic opportunity to have a family read aloud, encourage reading to siblings or even the dog and to share in your student's journey through the world of words! Please remind your students to put their library books in safe places, such as a bookshelf, in their backpack or on the nightstand. Avoid leaving books in cars, on the floor, at the dinner table or in the bathroom. All books are due one week from check out back at the library. If your student is missing a book, I will send home a notice with the title, cost and due date.
Check out our local Southwest Library for after-school programs such as homework help, free snacks and much more! Get your Pima County Public Library Card online or in person at any of their many locations.
Happy reading,
Ms. Smith
