Counselor Corner
Hi Parents! Our September lessons on Character Traits set a strong foundation for the year. This month, we are excited to delve into the theme of Creative Problem Solving. Creative problem solving is an invaluable skill that empowers students to approach challenges thoughtfully and innovatively. This skill includes:
- Planning: Teaching students to map out their approach before tackling a problem.
- Communicating: Encouraging effective expression and listening skills to understand different viewpoints.
- Innovating: Guiding students to think outside the box and generate novel solutions.
- Perseverance: Instilling the importance of persistence until a resolution is achieved.
By learning to identify multiple solutions to their problems, students gain a greater sense of control over their well-being. This not only helps them in academic settings but also equips them with tools for personal growth and resilience. Throughout October, the classroom lessons will integrate activities and discussions aimed at enhancing these skills. We encourage you to support your child by discussing these concepts at home and exploring real-life examples of creative problem solving together. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing how these skills positively impact our students' experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
I am excited to work with you and your student(s). If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at mandy.cope@nebo.edu
