Registration for the 2024-2025 school year begins tomorrow, Thursday, April 11th, via the Parent Portal. Our goal is to have all our returning students registered by MAY 17TH.

Here are two reasons why that May 17th deadline is so important:

1. The earlier we know which students are returning, the earlier we can ensure we have enough quality teachers to teach them. If we get a large influx of late registrations this summer, we will have very limited options for hiring staff. No one wants to rely on subs to start the school year.
2. We try to assign students to classes so that those rooms have a good mix of personalities, learning styles and abilities. This takes time and a considerable amount of thought! When we must assign last-minute registrations to teachers late in the summer, it throws off that carefully planned classroom balance. That is not helpful to anyone--not to your child, not to their teachers and not to all of the other students.

Please register by May 17th even if you can't pay student fees right away or are uncertain where you will be living in the fall. You'll be doing your part to ensure adequate staffing and appropriate class sizes at your child's school. THANK YOU!

Lots of "oohs" and "ahhs" were heard at all three schools on Monday, April 8th, as our students watched the solar eclipse with their classmates. We thank Mother Nature for providing a picture perfect, cloudless day for eclipse viewing!

Churchill School Principal Sara Schnoor will be stepping down at the end of the current school year.

In a letter to Churchill families, she wrote, "I wanted to share with you that I have made the difficult decision to resign at the end of this school year. I will be forever grateful for the time I have had to lead and serve in the Homewood community, and I am very proud of all that the Churchill team has accomplished these last four years. It has been a pleasure getting to know so many of our Homewood 153 families, and I want to thank you for your support."

Dr. Scott McAlister, Superintendent, said he was proud of the progress made at Churchill under Schoor's leadership. "We wish Dr. Schnoor well as she pursues other opportunities."

McAlister said the process to find a replacement is underway with the goal of naming a successor in May. Interviews of finalists will include staff and parents.
