This week, our students begin the winter iReady diagnostic assessments. They will take the reading portion this week and the math portion next week. Students complete this assessment three times a year (Fall, Winter, Spring), and the results help teachers understand each student's strengths, areas for improvement, and overall growth. You can support your child’s success by ensuring they get enough sleep, eat well, and encourage them to stay focused and give their best effort during the test.
Join us for our Holiday Breakfast this Saturday, December 14th, in the Western Trails gym! We’ll be serving pancakes, bagels, muffins, sausage, and fruit, with a special visit from Santa. Pre-ordering is encouraged to help us prepare.
We’re excited to participate in Hour of Code, a global initiative to introduce millions of students to computer science through one-hour coding activities. This hands-on event will give students the opportunity to explore coding, including working with robots.
As the weather gets colder, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor activities. Students will go outside if the “feels like” temperature is 10 degrees or higher. To play in the snow, they will need snow boots, snow pants, gloves, and a jacket. If you need assistance with winter clothing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
This week, students have the opportunity to shop at The Penguin Patch store. Please ask your student or teacher which day they will be shopping and ensure they have appropriate funds to purchase items. Our holiday sing-along and class parties will be held on Friday, December 20th, before we break for winter vacation. We hope you enjoy the holiday season and take time to relax with family and friends. Don’t forget to encourage your student to read during the break!
