December 11, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
Estimada comunidad de Woodcrest,
Trimester 2 is off to a strong but cold start! Winter is definitely here. Please be sure to send winter gear with your child every day for recess. We have some fun activities planned before winter break. This week we have an all school assembly with the Raptor Center from the U of M. Thank you to our PTO for funding this! Next week, we will have a spirit week as we head into winter break. Please see the schedule below in the newsletter.
Last week, report cards went home in backpacks. If you haven’t received yours or have any questions about the report card, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Tomorrow we will have another pulse check. Please watch for the email/text and take a moment to share your experiences. We take every piece of feedback into account. Thank you for taking the time to do this! I really appreciate it.
Stay warm!
Jaime Nymann
Principal

Share Your Voice: Next Pulse Check is Thursday, December 12
Our next pulse check is coming your way tomorrow, Thursday, December 12. You will receive a text message and email with a few simple questions asking for feedback on your experience with school. From paper plants to community circles
The paper plants on the wall are all different and filled with students’ hopes and dreams. In another room, there is a student signed poster with the class rules. In another space, Tuesday mornings are circle time. Across Spring Lake Park Schools, specific, intentional strategies and practices like these are creating a learner-centered environment.
A learner-centered environment is a space where students feel seen, heard, valued – that they belong. It’s a space to safely develop and practice skills like working together and treating each other with respect and kindness. It’s a place of shared responsibility where each member supports and feels supported in learning.
Teachers across grade levels and schools dip into a shared collection of strategies, tools and resources to support the social, emotional and behavioral development and management practices that create a safe, learner-centered environment.
Take a peek into four strategies that put learners at the center.
