Parent Academy Session #1- Social Media and Bullying
Principal's Message
I hope you all had a restful and rejuvenating three-day weekend. As we step into this new week, I want to take a moment to reaffirm my commitment to you and your children. As principal, my top priority is ensuring the physical and emotional safety of everyone in our school community. Our school should be a haven—a place where students feel secure, supported, and able to thrive, away from the challenges of the world around us.
Let’s start this spring semester strong by working together with positivity and assuming good intentions in all situations. We all share the same goal: to create a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where your children can succeed and grow.
I’d also like to invite you to join us for our Parent Academy, which begins this Wednesday at 5:30 PM. Dinner and child care will be provided to make it as accessible as possible. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to connect, learn, and grow together. I hope to see many of you there! See below for more information and to RSVP.
Thank you for your partnership in making our school a place where students can thrive. Let’s make this week—and this semester—a great one!
Thank You SSC Members!
Thank you to our amazing parents who serve as members of our School Site Council (SSC)! We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Martha Rodriguez, Ms. Tania Castillo, Ms. Catalina Poblano, Mr. Roberto Gonzalez, Ms. Cristina Bonilla Hernandez, and Ms. Arcelia Ramirez. Your time, dedication, and commitment to our school community are truly appreciated. Thank you for making a difference! 🌟👏
School Uniforms
Your Support with Uniforms is Appreciated!
We need your help in ensuring all students are dressed in the correct uniform at school. Students should wear navy blue bottoms(black pants are not allowed) and a baby blue collared shirt each day. “Cookies” brand clothing is not permitted at school due to its association with marijuana.
On Math Mondays, students are welcome to wear their Math Monday shirts with alternative bottoms. However, please remember that bottoms should not include sweats or leggings.
If you have any questions or need support in obtaining new uniforms, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help!
Thank you for partnering with us to maintain a positive and professional learning environment for our students.
Red Cards to be Distributed by LAUSD
Important Message from LAUSD:
As we close out one of the most challenging weeks in our District’s history, and prepare for a new presidential administration, we want to reaffirm the District’s unwavering commitment to the well-being and education of all students, particularly regarding their rights to access and receive education regardless of their immigration status.
We believe it is crucial to provide our students and families with clear and accessible information about their legal rights. The District will be distributing Red Cards with vital information about their rights on Tuesday, January 21.
We know this may be a difficult time for many, and we are committed to supporting the safety of our entire Los Angeles Unified community on or off campus.
Important Message from Counselor Ortiz on Attendance Policy
Important Update: Saturday School for 8th Graders
Dear 8th Grade Parents,
We’re excited to announce that SFIAM will host Saturday School exclusively for 8th graders starting January 25, 2025. Sessions will run from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Please note:
Students with 8 or more tardies during the Spring Semester will be required to attend Saturday School.
Each tardy equals 30 minutes, and students must attend one session per 8 tardies accumulated.
During Saturday School, students will complete a PASS lesson on I-Ready and catch up on any missing assignments.
Attendance is crucial to ensure students meet requirements to culminate on stage.
Thank you for supporting your child’s success this semester! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ortiz
