Can you believe we just completed the 9th week of school? The trimester ends, 11/15/24. Parents, please continue to check your student's grades in IC (Infinite Campus). If you need assistance, please contact the main office at 708-798-3424. Furthermore, we celebrated our September Students of the Month by giving them a Lou Malnati's Pizza Coupon. See their pictures below. Lastly, a gentle reminder that we have an early dismissal on 10/31/24 as well as our PTA Fall Celebration Parties from 10:45-11:45am. Please see more details below. Students are dismissed at 12noon. There is school Friday, 11/1/24.

As we settle into fall and Halloween approaches, many are excited to celebrate on Thursday, October 31st. The following guidelines must be followed if students choose to wear a costume:

• Must wear costume to school. Students will not be allowed to change into a costume.
• Must be able to wear a costume comfortably while conducting daily activities.
• No make-up or masks are allowed.
• Refrain from any costumes that contain blood/gore, weapons.
• No props of any kind.

With the support of our amazing PTA, each class will have the opportunity to engage in some fun activities from 10:45pm-11:45pm. If you would prefer for your child not to participate in Halloween themed activities, please inform your child's teacher before 10/31/24. There will be a fun alternate activity that they may participate in. There will not be a snack provided. No other outside food is permitted. We are looking forward to a fun day!

Wednesday was Mrs. Edwards last day at Churchill School. She was our Instructional Coach and former 3rd grade teacher. We wish her well as she focuses on her family.

We are excited to invite you to a special event at the Homewood Science Center on Thursday, November 7th, from 7:00–8:00 PM. Dr. David Purpura, a distinguished professor from Purdue University and Director of the Center for Early Learning, will be our featured speaker.

Dr. Purpura will present his groundbreaking research on enhancing educational outcomes for early learners, with a particular focus on mathematics education. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into the latest developments in early childhood education and how they can impact childrens' learning journey.

This event is highly relevant for educators, parents, caregivers, and grandparents who are looking to support the educational success of the young learners in their lives.

Monday, November 11th is Veterans Day, a day set aside to recognize and thank those who have served our country. While many school districts and businesses close as part of this recognition, District 153 stays open as an opportunity to educate our students and publicly recognize many of the veterans and others who have or are serving our country from our community.

Once again, we will host our annual Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, November 11, 2024 at James Hart School. If you are a veteran, active-duty, reservist, or National Guard member, we cordially invite you to join us for the festivities and breakfast as a token of our gratitude for your service.

You can help us get the word out by sharing this invitation with friends, family, and neighbors who are past or present service members.

If you will be joining us, please click here to RSVP by Monday, November 4th. Your RSVP will help us know who to expect and how much breakfast to prepare.

To All Families: Please be advised that those who qualified for free or reduced priced meals from the 23-24 school year and have not yet reapplied for the 24-25 school year will no longer receive free or reduced meals beginning October 1st. Early Dismissal or Transportation Change:

• If a student needs to be picked up early or a transportation change is needed, please call the main office at 708.798.3424, before 2:30pm. You may also send a written note to school with your student. They must bring it to the main office.
• The next early dismissal is October 31. The time for making changes on early dismissal days is before 11:15am.

Lunch Drop Off:

• Food delivery services such as Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc., are not allowed and will be returned.
• Parents/Guardians may drop off lunch for students 20 minutes before the lunch period begins.
• Lunch period times are:
• 3rd grade 10:40am
• 4th grade 11:30am
• 5th Grade 12:15pm

• Please remind your student to check the lost and found to collect their belongings.
• The remaining items will be donated to Goodwill on November 1st.
