* After being displaced following hurricane Helene we are pleased to announce we will be back at Moore Street School tomorrow, Monday October 7, 2024. Also Evening School will resume at its regular scheduled time. Despite being displaced our focus remained high achievement and success for all students. See pictures below.
* We have concluded the 1st nine weeks of the school year. However report cards and parent conferences will be delayed. More correspondence will be forthcoming.
*As a reminder Fall Break for students will be October 9-14. Students will return to school on Tuesday October 15, 2024.
*Parents, we want to ensure you that safety remains our 1st priority here at Moore Street School. If you need to visit the campus for any reason please adhere to our safety protocols. Every person will be required to clear the medal detectors before entering the building. Also please refer to previous correspondence sent out concerning district wide intruder alert training scheduled for September 24th.
* Attendance continues to be an area of focus. Parents if your child is not in Tier 1 of the DCS attendance protocol we will resume attendance recovery this week.. Students will be required to recover attendance in Evening School. The days/hours are Monday-Thursday 2:15-5:15 p.m.
* "Using achievement data to inform instruction was a focus during the 1st 45 days.This will continue to be a focus through the 2nd 45 days. Our goal is to provide the students with multiple opportunities to engage with the standards.
* Moore Street School continues to celebrate Mr. Jeffrey Puckett for being selected as the 2025 Teacher of The Year and Mrs. Stefanie Wright for being selected as the 2025 Support Staff of The Year. They will be recognized at the football game on Friday October 25, 2024. See photo below.
* Parents if your child is not on track academically they should be taking advantage of evening/after school. Evening/after school meets Monday-Thursday from 2:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Bus transportation is available and a meal is served each day. Monday and Wednesday math and science is the focus. Tuesday and Thursday English and Social Studies is the focus.
*We have 2 family engagement activity scheduled for the month of October. Family engagement activities are great ways for you to get involved in your child's academic progress. These sessions provide information, strategies, and hands on opportunities for the whole family.
