"Building a community prepared for the choices and challenges of life."
Message from the Principal
This is always an exciting time of year as we build next year's schedule, set continuous improvement goals, and enjoy the final stretch of our current year. As we begin to think ahead, we are excited to continue our work in fostering strong academic achievement and maintaining a safe and healthy school environment.
As part of ensuring that we have the resources needed to meet the goals we set, we continue to seek out grant opportunities and strengthen connections with community partners. One of the key funding sources is the School Prevention Grant from the Vermont Department of Health, which supports our substance prevention work for students in grades 7-12. Healthy Lamoille Valley has been a huge support in securing these funds and supporting our efforts. This grant, along with other funding sources, allow us to sustain and expand initiatives focused on substance prevention and student wellness. We are currently exploring the use of grant funds to invest in vape detectors for restrooms and locker rooms on our campus. Substance prevention is a shared responsibility, and as a community, we are committed to doing our part. Check out information for parents and caregivers from Healthy Lamoille Valley below.
Spring is an exciting time at Lamoille, filled with planning, activities, and celebrations. From spring sports to exciting field trips, there is so much to look forward to as we head into the final months of the school year.
Have a great weekend!
-Bethann Pirie, LUHS Principal

Quarter 3 Progress Reports
Today marks the end of Quarter 3! Over the next week, teachers will be updating their gradebooks and submitting comments, which will be included in the Quarter 3 progress reports mailed home. We would like to remind our parents and caregivers that you will see an in-progress score for each course your student is enrolled in. These scores serve as a "snapshot" of where students are at the moment. Only final course scores, calculated when the course ends in June, will impact students’ grade point averages (GPAs). If you have any questions, please reach out to your student's school counselor.
Dual Enrollment and Early College
Are you a current 10th or 11th grade student interested in Dual Enrollment or Early College? These experiences can be an excellent opportunity for students to earn college credit and gain exposure to college-level academic rigor. If you would like more information, please reach out to your school counselor!
Seniors!
Progress Toward Graduation - For our seniors, this is the final semester before graduation in June! As we prepare for this milestone, we are closely monitoring student progress to ensure that our seniors meet the requirements to participate in the graduation ceremony. It is important to note that only students who have successfully completed all graduation requirements will be eligible to participate in the ceremony. We want every senior to walk across the stage in June, so if you have any questions about your child’s progress toward graduation, please reach out to their school counselor. Our team is dedicated to supporting students and communicating with parents and caregivers regularly. Below are the names and email addresses should you wish to reach out to your student's counselor.

LUHS Highlights!
Checkmate! Lamoille Chess Team Claims 4th Straight State Title
Nearly 200 students from all over Vermont competed in the 38th Annual Vermont State Scholastic Chess Championship at Lamoille Union High School. LUHS took home the championship for the 4th year in a row, narrowly defeating runner-up Essex Community! Top scorers for LUHS were Elizabeth Daley, Truman Bates, and Merlin Gwozdz. Amity Martell and Thomas Sullivan also contributed to the team score along with teammates Ben Turner, Tara Sibenaller, and Ben Gale.
Green Mountain Boys' State Program
Juniors Frankie Martell and Hazen Longe have been accepted into the prestigious Green Mountain Boys' State program at Norwich University for a week-long camp in June. Founded in 1938, this leadership development program focuses on Vermont town, county, and state government.
Erik Remmers Named Director of the Year!
Coaches from KOTB (Kids On The Ball), a non-profit program out of Burlington, visited LUHS to expose students to SPEC Tennis.
SPEC tennis is similar to Pickleball. It uses a paddle instead of a tennis racquet as shown in this photo.
It’s fun to play and has a small learning curve! In this photo, the founder of KOTB, Jake Agna, is talking with Coach Hosea Crittenden. Jake was among other coaches at the school all week. Jake explained that they have kids learn primarily through playing, not being taught.
Lamoille sent students enrolled in guitar class to the Circle Strings Guitar Factory in South Burlington, where they toured the workshop and learned how these elite guitars are handcrafted. The students had the incredible opportunity to play models worth over $80,000! They are already looking forward to going back!
Senior Elliot Rowe took his skills to Colorado where he tested Nordic gear at the YMCA Powder Mountain Ranch!
LUHS Nutrition Team wearing purple ribbons on Epilepsy Awareness Day to raise awareness, show support, and break the stigma surrounding epilepsy. More than 65 million people worldwide live with epilepsy. That’s why awareness matters!
Future Lancers in the making! 15 members of the Lady Lancers soccer program hosted a clinic for K-6 students, sharing their skills, passion, and love for the game with the next generation.
High school athletes demonstrated their skills in front of a group of younger student-athletes.
LU girls soccer raised money to support their summer trip to Spain. A huge thank you to Cambridge Youth Soccer for allowing us to borrow equipment. It's moments like these that make it great to be a Lancer!
Hands-on learning in action! Lamoille students learn more about different job skills by processing inventory at ReSource.
Sparks of opportunity as students experience welding at LWI Inc!
Learning the art of sugaring at Mr. Baker's Sugar House!
Below: Congratulations to our Lancer Dancers on an excellent season and stellar performances at States and New Englands! We are incredibly proud of you!
