Student Handbook Highlight - Food & Drink Student Handbook Highlight - Food & Drink

The Jay Stream Student Handbook can be found in the front of every student agenda. Additionally, it can be found here in English or Spanish. Parents are encouraged to go through the handbook with their student(s). Jay Stream administration will highlight different components of the handbook in each Parent Newsletter.

Lunch: Jay Stream does not accept delivery from food delivery services like Door Dash or UberEats. If your student forgets their lunch, parents or guardians may drop off a lunch and the office will ensure that your student gets it.

Drink: Students may carry water bottles throughout the day. Water bottles can be filled up at one of the many water bottle filling stations in the hallway. Students may drink pop, juice, tea, etc at lunch, but those drinks may not be consumed outside of the lunchroom.

Attendance Matters: Tips for Building Positive Attendance Habits Attendance Matters: Tips for Building Positive Attendance Habits

In examining our student data from previous years, we consistently find that:

  • Students who miss 1 or 0 days of school per month throughout the school year are twice as likely to meet grade level expectations in reading and math than those who miss 2+ days of school per month.

  • Students who arrive on time to school also generally outperform those who are frequently tardy.

Without question, on-time attendance truly matters to student success. Knowing this, our goal is to help students and their families to build positive attendance habits this school year, and school administrators will be making an extra effort to monitor attendance more closely than ever. Please review this info sheet for some great tips to ensure your child is consistently in attendance and on time this school year.

i-Ready Math Diagnostic i-Ready Math Diagnostic

On Tuesday, all students will complete the i-Ready fall math diagnostic assessment. This is used to set each student's personal path and measure progress. In addition, students will use this information to set year-long growth and achievement goals.

The average student takes over an hour to complete the reading diagnostic. Therefore, Jay Stream will implement a special bell schedule. Students will spend the first two hours testing in their advisory class then they will travel though their day like normal. I have included the schedule below for your reference.
