Principal Update
As we head into winter break, I want to take a moment to reflect on the joy and excitement of this past week. It’s been a truly magical time at Rose School!
Our all-school outing to see Cinderella at the Lincolnshire Marriott Theatre was a huge success. The students dressed to impress, were on their best behavior, and represented Rose with pride.
The week was capped off with our all-school sing-along, where students and staff came together to celebrate the season with music and cheer. Thank you to Mrs. Senesac and Mrs. Blake for teaching the staff and students amazing dance moves and great songs to sing!
Moments like playing Jenga with second-grade boys at recess, enjoying popsicles with Landon, Gigi, and Niyum as part of our Rose Buck Redemption rewards, and seeing Mr. Baker rocking a shiny shirt for spirit week brought smiles to everyone.
I also had the pleasure of hearing original stories from Mrs. Schenck's class, and their creativity and enthusiasm were truly inspiring!
Thank you for your continued support and for sharing your amazing children with us. They fill our school with so much joy and energy.
I wish you all a happy, restful winter break. Enjoy time with family and friends, and we’ll see you in the new year, ready for more wonderful memories together.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Ruesch
Toy Drive
With the recent toy drive students at Rose donated hundreds of toys for hospitalized children at Alexian Brothers Hospital. It was such a great way for our students to demonstrate empathy. Mrs. Pauwels Red Class had the most donations and they celebrated with a Hot Cocoa and Candy Cane party!
New Book--If I Could Fly
Way to go, Maryam! We are so proud of our Rose second-grader, who wrote a short book and it just got published on Amazon. One evening after school, Maryam Saifullah wrote a story. She imagined a world where she could fly. In this book, she shares those imaginations.
Check it out here!
Congratulations!
Mrs. Allison Hudson, our Multilingual Specialist--Her project will support the purchase of diverse "Choose Your Own Adventure" books that align tour Character Strong Curriculum. The author of the books wonderfully combines “choose your own adventure,” diversity, and social emotional learning. In each book, children are confronted with social situations that they will recognize from school, the playground, home or even the bus stop. Some of the social situations include: my friends are arguing, my best friend has a new friend, you can encourage others, etc. The characters are diverse-elementary aged students, and the reader is able to choose different actions that the character can take in a situation, which will impact how the story ends.
Ms. Taylor Uhlarik, Mrs. Ilona Solymossy, & Ms. Jessica Timpe from 2nd grade--Their project supports the creation of Calm Down Corners in their classrooms. The Calm Down Corners can be used to teach students strategies like deep breathing, mindfulness, or using sensory tools, which can be valuable skills for lifelong emotional management. By allowing students to take a break when needed, the overall classroom environment can become more positive and focused, benefiting all learners.
