AN UPDATE FROM PRINICPAL COOK-FRAZIER
I hope each of you had a great weekend! We are wrapping up 4 weeks of school entering the 5th week officially on Wed. Sept. 25th! Our school faculty, staff and students are continuing forward, confirming our School Wide as well as Class rules and expectations, Hopes & Dreams and our Responsive Classroom Community! As we approach 6 weeks of school the week of Sept. 23rd we are also excited to welcome back various clubs and opportunities for our students before, during and after school.
Please also note as we approach the 5th week of school, we are awaiting confirmation from our District office on our staffing needs. As a result of District budget constraints, Paraprofessionals were relocated to other schools until our enrollment numbers were confirmed. We have exceeded the enrollment projections and hope to have confirmation on our staff return within the next week. We are also awaiting confirmation on the following positions as a result of vacancy or teacher transfer: Latin teacher (interviewed candidates, awaiting confirmation) and a Gifted teacher (replacing Ms. McKay).
Despite the changes, our FACULTY/STAFF continue to step up, fill the gaps and provide the best experience for our students and school community.
Speaking of stepping up.... based on released results from the Ohio Dept. of Education, Kilgour school receives a *5* STAR rating on the 2023-2024 State Report Card!!!!!!
Congratulations to our faculty, staff, and especially our STUDENTS for a job well done!!!!! Stay tuned for additional acknowledgement and celebrations.

FROM THE DESK OF MS. SHELLEY/ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL: SAFETY DRILLS
Dear Kilgour Community:
By the State of Ohio Law, all Ohio schools are required to conduct:
- 6 Fire Drills
- 3 Lockdown Drills, and one theoretical tabletop with staff
- 2 Tornado drills
During the week of September 16, we are practicing our 1st Lockdown drill. We want to communicate to all of you just what that will look like as well as to provide additional information
How will it look at Kilgour:
The Lockdown bell will be activated
I will announce schoolwide, “This is a practice Lockdown drill”
Teachers will turn off light, close ground level blinds, cover the window in the door
Classroom doors will be barricaded with a piece of furniture
Students will be quiet, out of sight and ready to be mobile with something to throw such as a calculator or book.
Additional Information:
Throughout the country and here in Ohio, schools used the research based A.L.I.C.E. strategy, This drill is facilitated by the school with the Cincinnati Police Department/ School SRO present.
What is a SRO?
A SRO is a School Resource Officer assigned to the school and who is also a Cincinnati Police Officer.
What is A.L.I.C.E.?

L- Lockdown

C- Counter- the why behind having something to throw
E- Evacuate- In conjunction with Cincinnati Police/School SRO, we will determine when to practice a Lockdown evacuation Drill.
You will be notified prior to a Lockdown Evacuation Drill and and you will be provided specific information regarding the why and how of a Lockdown evacuation.
