Notes from the Family Ambassador
Ohio State Testing is here! Tuesday and Thursday of this week students will be in Ohio State Testing for ELA (English Language Arts).
Helping your child feel ready and confident for a test doesn’t have to be stressful! Make sure they get a good night’s sleep before test day, since rest helps them focus and have the energy they need. On test mornings, encourage a healthy breakfast—something simple like eggs, oatmeal, or fruit to help them stay sharp. Create a calm and positive atmosphere at home and remind your child that doing their best is what truly matters. This kind of support can make a big difference in how they feel about the test. If your child gets nervous about taking tests, try doing a practice test together to help them feel more comfortable. Here is a link for the practice test by grade level to help them be prepared.
Thank you for helping set them up for success!
We love to learn!

Is your child feeling nervous about testing?
Here are some techniques to try!
Teach relaxation techniques - encourage your kiddo to practice deep breathing and mindfulness techniques to manage his/her stress.
Remind your child to be kind to themselves! Have him or her focus on his or her strengths.
Encourage your child to visualize positive outcomes.
Validate your child - listen to his or her concerns and fears and let him or her know it’s OK to feel worried.
Praise your child’s efforts and hard work rather than focusing on the test score.
Remind your child that he or she is capable of doing great things!
Multicultural Night! April 3rd
We will be celebrating our Gables Community at our Multicultural Night on Thursday April 3, 2025 at 5:30pm. WE NEED YOUR HELP! This week, students should have brought home a flyer with information on how you can participate. There is a variety of ways to get involved:
- Providing a Potluck Dish: This dish can be traditional to your culture or represent a culture other than your own.
- Performing a Cultural Presentation: Enlist your cultural talents (sing, dance, play an instrument, etc.). Inform us if you know of a person or group who would be willing to share their cultural talent.
- Setting up a Display: Share a country's flag, photos, maps, or items of cultural significance.
- Wearing traditional attire: Represent different cultures with traditional dress and join us in a fashion show.
- Volunteering: Help us set up and clean up the event.
If you would like to get involved, please fill out the form that was send home or email Amy Ankeney at aankeney6984@columbus.k12.oh.us
LOST & FOUND
We encourage you to take a moment to check the school's lost and found in the multi-purpose room for any items your child may have misplaced. Over the past few months, a variety of jackets, lunchboxes, water bottles, and other belongings have accumulated, and we would love to return these items to their rightful owners before the school year ends. Please take a quick look through the lost and found area to ensure your child doesn't leave any of their treasured possessions behind. Any unclaimed items will be donated at the close of the school year, so we encourage you to check soon!
