Brief Message From the Principal
Welcome El Sereno students, families, and community!
A new school year is on the horizon with so much to look forward to. We can't wait for you all to get on campus and get this school year started.
Dear El Sereno Families,
It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new Principal of El Sereno Middle School.
I am honored to have the opportunity to guide and lead our school with such amazing students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community. As a former LAUSD student and El Sereno resident, I feel privileged for having the opportunity to reconnect with my former community and participating in the journey of supporting your child’s academic success.
Over a span of 30 years, I have worked as Principal at multiple LAUSD schools ranging from Kindergarten up to 12th grade and have also held various Leadership roles throughout my career supporting school communities and parents. I look forward to continuing my journey as an Educational Leader here at El Sereno Middle School.
I consider myself a life-long learner and therefore looking forward to working and learning from all of you throughout the year. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to your children.
Mr. Cesar Quezada,
Your ESMS Jaguar Principal

Message from our Teacher Librarian
Dear El Sereno Middle School Parents and Guardians,
We are so excited to announce that this year, El Sereno Middle School is continuing our “One School, One Book” reading program! As part of building a strong community of readers and learners, students entering grades six through eight will be reading Miss Quinces by Kat Fajardo in their homeroom advisory classes.
Reading a book together as a school helps us bring joy and a sense of collaboration about reading that will help carry us through the 2024-2025 school year. Please join in by discussing the book and your student's thoughts as we read Miss Quinces together!
If you have any questions please reach out to me via email at jth9529@lausd.net and have a wonderful beginning of the school year!
Thank you!
Jenny Hertz-Newman
Teacher Librarian, El Sereno Middle School
