Sign Up for SUN Bucks
SUN Bucks is a new federal program (formerly known as Summer EBT) that provides $120 in child food benefits to bridge the summer meal gap. SUN Bucks is a joint effort with District 196 and MN Department of Children, Youth, and Families. The SUN Bucks card is mailed from MN Department of Children, Youth, and Families to the primary address District 196 has on file. School-aged children between the ages of 7-17 whose households participate in specific public assistance programs or qualify to receive educational benefits can receive this summer benefit. Families not yet enrolled should apply for educational benefits through our school district. Access the stateβs SUN Bucks webpage to learn more or visit the MNbenefits webpage for other support programs.
Educational Benefits - More Than Just Lunch
Families are encouraged to complete an Educational Benefits Application. Your children may qualify! Applications are now open.
While meals are free for all students, all families are highly encouraged to complete an Application for Educational Benefits. Your approved application provides critical funding to our school district. This compensatory aid helps increase funding for teachers, paraprofessionals and social workers to include math and reading support. An approval for educational benefits also allows families to receive discounted Activities/Community Education fees. Learn more about the Educational Benefits Program.
Questions or concerns: ask our Nutrition Services department at Nutrition@district196.org or 651-683-6958.

Calling All Students for WIN Wednesday!
Students can benefit from an opportunity for academic support every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm β 4:15pm in the flex room located in the learning commons. Students are supported to complete their schoolwork learning in a supervised setting. In addition students can also utilize the WIN program to make up tests they may have missed. Students can get this approved through their teacher ahead of time and the test will be ready for them to take during WIN. Faculty and staff are available along with upper-class peer tutors (especially skilled in Mathematics). Students will identify their priorities (βWhat I Needβ or βWhatβs Important Nowβ), create a plan for the most efficient use of their time, celebrate their accomplishments, and leave with a plan for continued success. Students do not need to sign up in advance for WIN Time. We do ask that students plan to be there for the start at 2:40pm so they can benefit from the full support. We will keep a log of students and their engagement (arrival/departure time and their focus/work while they are there). For students needing transportation home, activity buses will be available departing at 4:45pm.

Varsity Softball
Eastview Beats Sabers 13-6 (May 7)
Lightning bats were hot tonight recording 17 hits and scoring 13 runs. All 9 batters in tonight's line up recorded hits. Kennedy Jacobson lead the charge with 4 hits and 5 RBIs.
The Lightning couldn't find a way to get their bats going and lost to the Panthers 7-0. Eastview had 3 hits - Ava Ruyle, Natalie Brown, and Ryann Mushett.
Farmington Beats Eastview 10-0 (May 1)
The Lightning were down 1-0 heading into the 6th when the Tigers busted it open scoring 9 runs and ending the game in a run rule. Claire Lorsung had 2 hits for the Lightning.
Boys Volleyball
The Eastview Boys Prep volleyball team continued their undefeated streak Wednesday, securing victories over Shakopee and Jefferson at league night to advance to 4-0 this season. A dominant serving percentage remains their key strength, consistently keeping opponents on the defensive.
Sophomores Evan Peschken and Max Chen have been instrumental in the team's successβEvan showcasing exceptional passing and setting, while Max delivers excellent hitting and formidable blocking.
The team looks to extend their winning momentum as they host a tournament this Saturday at Eastview.
The Lightning Boys Volleyball teams continued their winning ways again Tuesday night at Eagan with a clean sweep. The B-squad dominated both sets of their match, despite being without their usual starting setter, winning easily 2-0. The JV team had several fun, long defensive rallies against the Wildcat JV team, but pulled away to win convincingly in both sets. The JV team continues their undefeated run through the SSC conference schedule.
Your #2 ranked Lightning boys varsity team got off to a slow start, but rallied to close out the first set on a 20-5 run, winning 25-17. In the second and third set, Eagan played some scrappy defense and continued to serve tough, but the Lightning were too much, winning the second set 25-19, and the 3rd set 25-22. The varsity boys are now 6-0 in conference and 17-2 overall, and host Prior Lake on Thursday night, May 8 as their next step toward winning the first ever boys volleyball South Suburban Conference Title.
